What are you watching?

Tonight, it was Platoon on DCP, supposedly (but I actually suspect they projected the Blu-ray), in presence of Oliver Stone himself to present the movie. He did not stay to watch it with us.

Tomorrow, it will be J.F.K. in 35mm, also in presence of Oliver Stone. The guy is the guest of honor at the Forum des Images, in Paris.

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil - when the classic "teenager horror flick in the woods" meet comedy; result is quite funny! - 6.5/10

The Snow Man - a thriller with a great (as usual) Michael Fassbender, and an unrecognizable Val Kilmer; good story with an unsuspected twist, well acted. - 7.5/10

The Cloverfield Paradox - third installment in the Cloverfield franchise. Not completely original story, OK, but still interesting; great CGI, good acting, never boring. - 7/10

Thor: Ragnarok - another superhero movies - will we never be tired of them? I guess not! Big Grin
To me, the story seems the usual one: a enemy attack, our hero should defeat him (her, in this case), and in meanwhile the film goes on... with some interesting surprises, I must add. Apart a weaker than usual CGI Hulk, SFX are good, acting decent, so... let's wait for the next one! - 6.5/10

Radius - a very original story, a mix between sci-fi and thriller; can't say more without spoilers, but if you want to watch something fresh, and could bare a slow (but never boring) pacing, go for it! - 7.5/10

Altered Carbon - a new series by Netflix, just started to watch ep1, but it seems very promising... judgement suspended until the end of the first season! Big Grin

Flatliners (2017) - usually remakes are always worse than the original; I can't say this is better, but not worse either; let's see it as a modern version - with all the bad and good things this could bring... said so, I liked it; well acted, in some parts frightening, even almost disturbing, and that's a good point IMHO! Go for it, but if you can be scared easily, just watch it in the daylight and in a good company! Big Grin - 7/10

Resident Evil (2002)
- forced to watch it various times due to a project, I felt the urge to spend two words about this. Yes, it's not a masterpiece, I'm full aware of it, but I can say I like it quite much. I still dislike some poor (in comparison to latest years) CGI, but, apart that, I like everything else - story is nice, acting is fair, music is good, a lot of action, zombies, and laser beams... what can you ask more? Wink - 7/10

*Under the Skin* - 2014

Checked this out a few days ago and still thinking about it. It is one of the most challenging movies I have seen in a while and I appreciate it's ambition. I am ready to watch it a second time and absorb the story even more than the first time. Overall, it is a very touching yet haunting tale about humanity.

*Blue Ruin* - 2013

Wonderful twist on the regular revenge story which examines the repercussions of actually getting true revenge as well as just propagating the message of how anger simply begets more anger. It kind of took the themes of Three Billboards more seriously and executed a lot better in my opinion.
