What are you watching?
Ikr!

Eh, I think we don't need an extra thread for it, considering how rarely it happens. Big Grin

Yep, it happens rarely, but that's the main reason why we NEED a thread like that! Wink
But I'm too lazy to start it right now, and you?

Well, maybe.

I'm also too lazy. Smile

Recently rewatched Upgrade and it is still a fantastic sci-fi movie.

Another movie that surprised me a lot was something I accidentally stumbled over. The Thief and the Cobbler. Some next level animation, sadly never got properly finished, but there is a nice fanres project out there that kind of brings it to life. Someone truly put his love into that movie.

The Addams Family (2019)

After the TV series and the two movies, I can't avoid to watch this animated version... well, characters design is quite extreme, but fits well, more or less - I love Morticia in particular!
Story was quite weak IMHO; even if original enough, not very interesting. Sure, some laughs here and there, but nothing more. I expected to be entertained much more, but I preferred Hotel Transylvania.

Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

Another movie I couldn't avoid to watch, even if I read so bad reviews about it, and so I expected another failure sequel. But it was not, or, at least, not completely. Sure, the story was almost the same of T2 with a touch of T3; sure, the main star was like chosen randomly, and the new bad Terminator was charming like a toaster; sure, some CGI effects was lower quality than what anyone could expect from a, what, $180M budget film - like the bad T jumping in the factory at the beginning, and many part of the airplane sequence. So, far from perfect, but also far from terrible; if you expected the perfect sequel to T2, you will be disappointed, as well as to get a good, solid sequel anyway. But if you can turn your brain into a "let's have some fun" mode for two hours, you can get some satisfaction: good T was nice, Schwarzy and Linda were solid despite the age, action sequence were funny... all in all, I consider this a fair sequel, even if, as everybody else, I expected much more from this, due to the fact that Cameron was involved.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)

Read a review about this, and was instantly interested... when I will finally learn that I should also follow my instinct? Anyway, another horror movie with teenagers for teenagers; a quite original story (that, actually, constists of different ones "glued" together), some nice monsters, few fearful moments. I liked the kind of photography used - it gave that 60s right look - even if I hated the too present orange&teal grading!

The Monster (2016)

Well, I can't miss a movie with a monster, and one with it in the title can't be bad, right? Wrong! Sure, the beast was almost interesting, unless it's fully visible... yes, the two stars acted in a quite convincing way, even if they continue to make wrong moves, but hey, it's an horror cliché, after all. What started to getting on my nerves were the useless flashbacks... my explanation is that they need to increase running time, but they could find a better way.
All in all not the worst monster/slasher movie ever seen, still far from good... you should watch only for completeness' sake, or because, like me, you can't miss a monster movie!

5/10

Doom Annihilation (2019)

Why, oh why I spent my time with this flick? Never heard about it since I stumbled upon it by chance, I wanted to give it a try - I liked Doom (2005) quite a lot, so why not? Well, better to not waste your time with this. Story unoriginal, wooden acting, bad dialogs, usual zombies and monster (apart fire balls a-la Goku), bad SFX, fake fight, plastic props... nothing seemed right in this movie.

3.5/10

Crawl (2019)

Dunno if I wrote about this movie, seen few weeks ago, but I'm quite sure I did not, so... Crawl talks about a girl and his father entrapped in an house, during a hurrincane, hunted by alligators. Simple story, and, despite the low budget, well executed. Not only the (few) stars acting were good, but the whole "gear" works well - music, SFX, locations. You can't miss it if you like big badass animal stars!

Haha, my thoughts exactly.

Why couldn't they just use a real person on a wire and CGI out the wire?

I don't know, but the first thing came to my mind was "Madagascar", the animated movie! Happy

That's one thing that really annoys me with films these days. Instead of coming up with some inventive way of doing something they just CGI it.

Color Out of Space

Awesome psychedelic horror movie with Nic Cage. Maybe even the best 2019 movie (if it still counts as 2019). Not that there's much competition, but still. Comfy, beautiful and terrifying.
