French and Spanish speakers, a warning!

I was recently informed from an user that often (if not always), the French and Spanish tracks on Blu-ray are not the "real deal", but instead Canadian French and Latin Spanish; this seems to happens not only in US (where it could be acceptable), but also in Europe; I guess, to spare some cash, they "recycle" US tracks also for European edition - instead of looking for the proper lossless multichannel masters, with subsequent encoding etc.

Now, I don't want to seem extremely picky - there are things much worse than this in our audio/video field - but at least, I'd like the studios to put some kind of warning... at least, for European versions; I mean, a French speaker could of course understand Canadian French, as a Spanish speaker could understand Latin Spanish; but it's not only the different language "versions", it's the fact that many, used to listen to their favourite movies, would find a new track, with new voices!

The best would be to add both versions for each language - but I'm pretty sure it will never happen.

Long story short: dear French and Spanish movie lovers, DO... NOT... SELL... YOUR... DVDs!!! Keep them, at least if you want to be sure to listen to the original audio tracks - more or less!

P.S. From now on, whenever possible, I'll try to include into my projects only the "real" French and Spanish tracks; I'll update Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 ASAP.

Yes, there is a certain french tracker, where most rips have both canadian and french dubs included, one or the other is synced to the HD release. It as become an archival kind of thing in a way.

I've discovered that my Alien saga BDs have the English, Italian and Latin Spanish tracks, while the ones sold in Spain have the Castilian Spanish tracks.

I wonder if the US (and/or Canadian) BDs have the Canadian (or, better, Quebec?) French tracks - I'm pretty sure that's the case, but one of our US member could eventually confirm od deny that.

Nope. French-Canadian dubs started in the '90s. So about 99% of the time, for any movie that was released before this period it is most definitely dubbed in France.
All the French dubs made in Canada are done in Québec by the way

That certain tracker has been banned and closed so for now there is no way to get both french & canadian dubs of any release, sadly.

Well, the Alien BDs were certainly released after the '90s...

For example, even in Italy some parts of the dubs are changed for newer editions (and we talk about '90s as well); a dialog is missing in Alien 3, for example, at the beginning (the computer voice, "warning..."); it will be reinstated in my next version, though, so it would be nice to have Quebec French tracks - again, if they exist...

They don't. They keep the French tracks dubbed in France for the older movies as people in Québec are obviously used to them

What do you mean by "real Spanish tracks"? As far as I know, both dubs are equally valid (for his public), both Latin Spanish and Spanish Castilian (from Spain), simply a dubbing is focused on one continent and the other to another continent (America and Europe) , So I do not understand why include only a dub of those two, ideally include both.

Indeed, I wrote "real" (as a pseudojoke); I know that both are vaild, but to me (and many others), real Spanish is Castilian Spanish, French is Parisian French, English is British English, just because the language was original from that country, that's it!

As far as I know there is no movie that has a British and an American English track, but at least one (Mad Max 1) had Australian and American English track IIRC.

Of course, if I can find both French and Spanish versions, I'll include them, from now on.
