The Jaws restoration was pretty darn beautiful in my opinion as well.

Way too much DNR plus they cheaper out on a wetgate

It's one off the best restorations I think Ive seen. I certainly didn't look at it and think 'way to much DNR'.
Unsure how a wet gate is cheapening out? I thought it was just a starting point!
I'm still learning bud, so any insight would be great?

Too much for that it has, there is some smearing with motion and loss of detail.
Wet gate is a good start, but it is a cheaper way to get the result

Sadly the studios have learned now that all they have to do is re-release the same discs over and over again in various limited editions and steelbooks to get their $ because this generation of collectors only care about that now

I didn't notice any smearing as such, and Ive never seen it with more detail!
Maybe ill have to have a closer look.
As I said I thought the wet gate was a starting point to help with the initial scan process before the real work began.
What would have been a better solution?

The double dip phenomenon has been around since the advent of home media began, but it certainly feels as though we're experiencing fatigue with it now.
UHD 4K is here though, and Ill probably end up buying Aliens again at some point Big Grin

Alien, Aliens, The Abyss and Die Hard.

sonn as they hit UHD, I'm upgrading. Can't justify a new TV on just Ghostbusters alone lol

It's got me looking around at equipment Smile

Personally was going to wait till the copy protection is circumvented.
I'm so used to having image / mkv files of my discs on the HTPC I don't want to go back.

Sorry if Ive derailed the thread lol.
