I was going to recommend you to try a software that detects problems in mpeg2 streams. I used ProjectX twice recently and it gave me almost exact timing of frames with this kind of artifacts.
But I just tried it on the broadcast of HP4 and there was 3934 warning/errors in the first 8 minutes so I gave up.

In comparison, the file I'm currently working on has 389 warning/errors in a 3h39m file.

The Freeform broadcasts are 16:9, if you can get in touch with Molly on OT, we might be able to get all 8 bit perfect.

@ babouin: tried Project X, but "fixed" file was not working... log reported impossible odd resolutions at various framerates - not a software fault, it works, I tried with other HDTV MPEG-2 .ts files. So, it's that HP4 file that seems unfixable!
Thanks to your help, HP 4 would be perfect at the end - as other films you have contributed with your own captures!

@ nightstalkerpoet: PM sent, waiting to know developments

HP 7: there is a feeble chance someone would be able to capture it... finger crossed!

HP 5: finished to watch it right now; as expected, it's perfect, *maybe* a tad too smooth, nothing that a good 35mm grain plate can't help to improve! Summary:
HP 1: audio and video (correct at 99.8%) ready to be lossy encoded
HP 2: second source downloaded, have to work on it
HP 3: video ready, DTS-HD MA to be encoded
HP 4: waiting for the second source
HP 5: video ready, DTS-HD MA to be encoded
HP 6: waiting for the second source
HP 7: waiting to see if someone could capture 1080i HDTV
HP 8: second source downloaded, have to work on it

Why are you having 3 and 5 DTS-HD encoded? The ultimate edition Blus have DTS-HD MA tracks already

Because the Italian BDs I have (as other European BDs, I think), has not a DTS-HD MA track for English language, but PCM for HP 1...5 and TrueHD for HP 6; I'm aware that there are US versions with DTS-HD MA (and maybe other non-US ones), but I have to find them, download etc. plus, there is (a really remote) chance the Italian BDs have different sync in comparison to other editions...
And, of course, I did it to get more space for video (PCM) and to have all the saga with the same main codec (TrueHD).

At the end, it would be the same, there *should* be not a single bit of difference - at least, not between PCM (TrueHD) and encoded DTS-HD MA!

The only difference is with 1 and 2, which are both 6.1 DTS-HD MA on the Ultimate Editions. The foreign language tracks are 5.1 Dolby EX as well for those 2.

Well, as for HP1 we need the "Philosopher" track, I guess the additional channel from 6.1 could be added without problems; for HP2, well, this track would be welcome - tell me you got it...

I'm not sure which are available or how to capture them, but the Harry Potter UMDs for PSP are Open Matte according to a couple sources, though HP1 isn't and it's the only one I found a video of.

IIRC the late films (HP 7 and 8, probably 6 as well) are not open matte; even if so, video is difficult to extract 1:1, is AVC at 720x480 with a bitrate around 1.6mbps, hence HDTV is a much better as source - but they could be useful eventually for logo removal.
I've finished to watch HP 6, 7, 8 - I had to watch the whole saga, after the first five films!
Full screen version is very rewarding, in particular HP 8.
HP 4 second source download is almost done.

A note: Freeform broadcasted the whole saga full screen, and at least HP 6 and HP 7 including deleted scenes (don't know if all or just few of them), cropped, English and Spanish dubbing.
 LATEST UPDATE:
Our new member OperatorIV kindly recorded HP 6, 7, 8 from Freeform!!! THANKS A LOT!!!

Now we have finally a superior quality for HP 7 as main source, a second source for HP 8 to get rid of the few residual logo, and a third source for HP 6 - you know, the more, the merrier!
