188 minute tv cut of Superman: The Movie getting an official release

What's the generally preferred version of this? I remember watching the TV broadcast of the extended version as a kid, and then missing certain scenes when I bought the "special edition" DVD years later. Not sure I've ever actually seen the theatrical cut, as I never picked up the BD.

Is there any information on what the source will be? I didn't see it on the wb site. According to wikipedia the extended cut was mastered on 16mm. Just wondering what that quality might be. In any case, I'll be ordering it because the quality will be miles better than any of the over-the-air vhs recordings available.

According to CapedWonder.com, this release is a bit different from the KCOP TV version. They are breaking all the details down

To those that have this already, does the new transfer have the teal infusion of the Theatrical cut bd?
