So much better than those sunburned skin tones.

Jonno has released a UK cinema intro reconstruction for Waterworld that has a DH3 trailer which looks like it was sourced from a 35mm flat trailer.

He is around here so maybe able to verify this?

It looks nothing like your regrade but thought it might be worth a look see Smile
just to note I do prefer your grade by a long shot.

One step ahead of you and already asked him Wink

Although a lot of his trailers are 35 he said this one was from one of the discs and he 35-ized it. If you follow.

Looks good, Great 35-izing.
Had me convinced!

I think the regrade lacks "style". McTiernan films have a LUT applied that makes the film image "style". The balance are good, but you need to add something that makes the film look stylish and not just regular video. DH3 had some sort of golden tinge that made the "style". It's wrong on video, but I'm sure you can make it work in your version.

This is a VHS trailer from 95. Looks nothing like the movie on video as released and perhaps somewhere closer to the print??

I'm afraid I didn't follow any of that, Stamper

Thanks Farstarbuck. That helps.

I looked through all the trailers I could find on youtube and they are all over the place so I tried to take into account the various looks.

For example, here is the same trailer in French but with a green tint:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAP470KIzaI

and another in green:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2AruxS8-Rs

Mine is more cool and blue per some of Beber's description than those trailers and more green then the US ones. My regrade, right or wrong is "brighter" but with higher contrast vs the trailers more "darker" appearance.

You could still set the white balance of your screen to warm. That'll give a more sunny, yellow cast to the film.

I view those on different screens. I still think it looks too bland. It's obvious the red thinge on the Blu is made to imitate the film original golden hue, which was done chemically. Compare with the DH1 version on Netflix that is remastered, you'll get an idea how it should look.

This trailer is also close https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcsk7C7FfQM
