Soon I will capture the sound AC-3 5.1 from Laserdisc. I have this LD with AC-3 sound. I'm just waiting for a very good Graphic Card NVIDIA TITAN Xp Collector's Edition that I bought and am also waiting for a new workflow of HPZ8 and lastly I will build together before it will captured the AC-3 sound by AJA Kona LHe Plus/LHi respectively FS1 device.

Will you be considering syncing up the AC3 track up to Chewie's sweet bluray version, or will you be doing video as well?

It's great that DeafYakuza can provide the AC-3 track if that's what people want, but just to let you all know, I'm not syncing it. Someone else will have to do that.

How does the 5.1 track? I'm assuming it is a 90's era upmix. I have no idea what "3 Channel Stereo (Westrex Recording System) (5.0) (L-R)" is, but that's what Imdb calls the original recording.

Btw, if someone is rebuilding this, an English subtitle track would be appreciated.

None of the existing subtitle tracks fit the Roadshow version. If someone makes one that does, I'm confident that whoever remuxes the BD wouldn't mind adding it in.

Of course, there is subtitle for the Roadshow version. The japanese LD does contain it which I tested it. Don't worry, I will rip the subtitles from jap. LD as well beside the AC-3 track from US LD.

Will the version with AC-3 be dual audio or 5.1 only?

I have the ac3 LD myself and have long wanted to do something like this. I've even thought about checking out the theatrical LD and DVD for comparisons and perhaps incorporating DVD footage for the main feature portions but it's not a very good DVD. The ac3 is a discrete encoding of the six track audio compared to the PCM 2.0 matrix encoding. Same source just presented in discrete and thus is a better presentation of the original 6 channels.

Combining an LD capture with footage from the DVD of the theatrical cut was my initial idea as well.  The trouble was that the LD looked more different in terms of color than I had imagined, and it could potentially have taken quite some time to match the two; therefore, it seemed better to base an initial release solely on the LD and give fans of the Roadshow Edition something half decent to watch as soon as possible.  There's considerable potential for future work on The Alamo, not least because the Amazon WEB-DL looks really nice.  The quality difference between that and the LD is readily apparent though, so integrating the two won't be easy.

I didn't know there was a DL version available. It could be that the DVD is from the master made for the first letterboxed release of the short version which I've never seen but could be different enough in color which might explain the DVD.
