I had to re-edit this post due to the limited headroom of 16-bit audio. All files were processed in 24-bit

I created several lfe samples from the ac3 track of a Live dvd. I applied a 120 Hz low pass to all of them, setting the slope to a steep 48 dB per octave.

During the subwoofer test, we evaluated sounds ranging from 100 Hz to 124 Hz in 2 Hz increments—using both 36 dB and 48 dB slopes—and concluded that the best frequency response was achieved with the previously mentioned setting of 120 Hz and 48 dB/octave.
