I bought Vegas Pro 14 and installed it. The download was a little bit slow, but it worked smoothly enough. The program seems to work when I block all network traffic. I had to input the serial number to activate it, and I did register it at magix.com. I haven't tried the others.

Thanks!
There are some nice programs out there that ruin it by trying to keep a too-tight control over legitimate purchases. In those cases, especially when I'm relying on it to work, and in the way I work -- computer upgrades, new systems, hard drive crashes, and other fun stuff -- I just find something else in which to put my trust. (Of course, you can't blame their concerns ... but punish the thieves, not the customers.)

Using Vegas should work on even a lesser old Win 7 64 bit desktop right? I'm in need of something simple to do some basic editing and all I have currently is my old workhorse desktop.

You should be able to make it work with that setup if you use lossless AVI, especially if you are doing only basic editing. 1080p should be all right, and 720p should be a breeze.

Thanks a lot Chewtobacca, I would have missed this without your hint. Finally got it after I missed out last year.

You're welcome. I'm glad that somebody found the heads-up useful.
