Apologies for the necro-bump but I think I found a copy of these WEB-DLs on Soulseek and upon further inspection it doesn't seem to look that much better than the VC-1 Blu-Rays.

If there is an improvement it's very very slight. I will still probably sync the Cinema DTS from the 35mm scans to these copies for my personal collection.

There are only 2 scenes on the BD that have this DNR. For the majority of the movie, the BD has more visible detail than the NF rip.

A hybrid version that combines the BD with the two DNR-free scenes from the WEB-DL would be optimal. I planned to do this myself, but I lost the NF rip and was never able to find it again.

Very interested in this! Got your original 44rh1n FOTREE v3, but of course would love to see an improved version with the new available sources. (btw from a birds eye view, it's absolutely ridiculous threads like this even have to exist due to studio incompetence. At least out of respect to the filmmakers, releasing the best possible version of a film, LOTR no less, should be a top priority. I work in the post-prod industry, and this boils my blood.)
