masktools throws this weird colorspace error at times and while it claims to accept yv24 in my experience it only accepts yv12
I guess yadifmod does some colorspace conversion
So maybe add another converttoyv12 before the srestore call

^ Yeah, that was my guess earlier in the thread, but it seems not to be the case.
CSchmidlapp, try using AviSynth's internal Bob() filter. It's low quality, but it should rule out the deinterlacer's being the problem. And I've just noticed that you are using the MT version of AviSynth; try the standard one.

I tried your suggestions guys but still no luck!
Ive reinstalled/installed Avisynth back to its original non MT version and I'm going to go through all the plugins and reinstall them and there dependency's. I'm sure it's something stupid on my part but I'm baffled.

So im looking through an old project of mine for 'The Killer' where I was using a PAL DVD as my souce.
The same master was used by Dragon Dynasty but encoded completely wrong!
By the looks of it they took the 25fps interlaced (50i) and converted it straight to 29.976 fps interlaced (60i)!
I have no idea why they didn't de-interlace an slowdown to 24fps but it is what it is.
What would you guys do to try and reverse this to get it back to 23.976 fps?
I know Iceprick a member here had some success but has said himself it could be improved upon.
Any advice would be great as its the best quality master out there and there are no signs of another release at the moment.

The Dragon Dynasty The Killer BD is also an 576i upscale, as is Hard Boiled (which is thankfully 24fps but seemingly a 480p source) and the German Chinese Ghost Story BDs (slowed down to 24fps converted from 576i 25fps, but with interlacing issues). These masters all came from from a German company called Atlas International, if one notices the pattern.
I had thought there was a European BD somewhere with the Atlas International master in better quality without nasty ghosting, but I had found out the Italian Cult Media BD is the Fortune Star master which is also an upscale with it's own issues, but fortunately runs the proper 24fps and still looks miles ahead of the DD BD. I had heard of old German and Austrian HDTV airings of The Killer with the Atlas master, but I imagine they're hard to find HDTV rips of anywhere given most HD rips at such places are using the BDs.

The Atlas International master is HD (I always referred to it as the EMS print due to its German release, but Atlas would be the better description), probably not resolving at 1080 but HD non the less.
The Fortune Star master(s) ive got (HK and Japan) are both pretty shabby, there true 24p sure but garbage when it comes to everything else!
Color's way off, the worse blown out highlights Ive ever seen, and Light leak from the poor scan over the left side of the image to name the worst offenders!
I was using it for the original open credits on the last attempt at my project.
The Atlas in terms of resolution and overall picture quality easily wins.
Ive not seen the Italian BD but it sounds like the same FS master and more of the same.
A HDTV airing would be nice, but Ive never come over any the past 10 years.
All we really need as a 'straight' copy of the Atlas master to work from that we could do our own de-Interlace and speed adjustments ect.
I'm just hopping at this point that The Killer is on the 2k or 4k remaster slate from Fortune Star.

I've seen a few early ancient HD masters that have that strange vertical grain/compression whatever you want to call it.
Nothing about the Dragon Dynasty blu ray makes any sense to me
