unfortunately, they replaced the french and spanish with the russian.

I synced that 568 kbps FLAC of the LaserDisc. Re-encoded it in WAV (48 kHz) because I didn't see how to render it at the same quality without changes. So it's 2.7 times as big. Also have the 12 KB Reaper work file still saved in case anyone wants to visually check how close the sync is or make additional adjustments. If somebody could send me the older DVD 5.1 or the cinema DTS, I'd like to work on those too. Unless originaltrilogy.com is already working on the cinema DTS. They'd probably do a better job.

I don't think I've seen anything confirming there even is a cinema DTS track for TLM. It definitely didn't have one in it's original run, it's possible that the 1997 re-release did but like I said I haven't seen anyone confirm.

I believe the Limited Edition's DVD release's 5.1 mix was.

According to my notes:

The 2001 Limited Issue DVD... uses an identical master to the 1998 laserdisc. It is OAR 1.66:1 letterboxed widescreen, contains the 1997 theatrical re-release Dolby 5.1 track (The 1997 re-release utilized a new Digital mix based on the original analog sources) and lacks the digital revisions made to the Platinum Edition. On the down side it is non-anamorphic, and has what is either bad mosquito noise or an early digital noise reduction that leaves crawling grain around edges.

There was also supposedly a 2001 Limited-er DTS edition, but this may be more rumor than fact.

The Diamond Edition has a different 5.1 track than the Limited Edition? I see the Platinum Edition is labeled as Disney Enhanced Home Theatre mix on the rear cover but the Diamond Edition does not mention anything about Enhanced Home Theatre mix.

The LE DVD was what I used for my restored DVD release. It is much less crappy than the DEHT mix.

I noticed on the 2002 UK DVD that the end credits were different, it started with a version of "kiss the girl" instead of "under the sea".
This version of "kiss the girl" is also on the 1998 5.1 dubs/mix of Portuguese and French.

If anyone has the Japanese laserdisc, I'd be interested.
Who owns the first Japanese dub (analog track) + original audio (digital track)

Perhaps all discussion on this movie has paused for a bit, but I just wanted to interject a few things as I just recently went through a bunch of audio tracks I could for the Little Mermaid: Not owning a 5.1 setup to get a true test--I overall preferred the 1998 LD Dolby Surround digital audio. I found a 35mm film scan for the German version of the film (oddly scanned at 24fps instead of 23.976--is this how NTSC films are shown in Europe?). It says it's from 1997 and contains a 5.1 DTS cinema track. It sounds comparable as the 1998 LD audio, but perhaps much clearer due to the higher bitrate/depth. I didn't much like the 1990 LD audio at all, it sounds noticeably muddy compared to the 1998 release.
