UHD is at 24fps instead of 23.978fps, so when I've finished the track, you'll need to mux it into the UHD and make sure to set the UHD's video's "Default Duration/FPS" to 24000/1001p to make it play at 23.978fps, as this is the framerate the Criterion Mono is synced to. The downside, of course, is that you won't be able to have the surround tracks in the same mkv and still sync with the video, but... who cares about the revisionist surround tracks, right? Smile

Will this affect the Dolby Vision layer? Is there any reason not to speed up the audio instead of slow the video?

Speeding up the audio will work fine. It just depends whether you like your audio as untouched as possible.

I had just finished syncing my mono track myself to my copy of Scream's new UHD before seeing Colson's post! It really does sound great, and the new Scream Factory release DOES have the original mono track but it's nowhere near as good sounding as the Criterion track.

As far as i know it is the mono from the bluray master before, which is the original but tempered with.

correct, it certainly doesn't sound horrible! but if you compare it to the Criterion, it's certainly not as crisp sounding.

Thank you for this!  Extra thanks for the framerate info!!  My diabolikdvd hasn't shipped yet (grrrrrrr) but I'm hoping that I will be able to remux with the original mono for a proper seasonal viewing.  We'll be camping in 2 weeks and I bring a portable projector with a raspberry Pi running Kodi - this would be perfect

Any chance I can get a PM with a link to the Criterion track?

No, and technically this is what you SHOULD do.  The correct framerate for the film is 24fps.  Speeding up the audio by 100.1% (23.976/24) is not a perceptible change.  I’ve done this for the mono track myself.  If anyone else wants to do so…

1. Change audio rate to 100.1% speed.
2. Add 2.05858 seconds to the start.*
3. Add some silence to the end (maybe 20 seconds).
4. Trim to the EXACT length of the new SF track.
*this is based on the Criterion mono linked to in the description of this YT video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8ct_gQO5cE

Works perfectly.

Works perfectly.

And Croweyes1121's version has just become the best version to use with the SF UHD, so consider my 23.976 Shout! sync replaced.

Why do you say that Colson, your sync works perfectly well at the correct 23.976fps as per Criterion laserdisc. Why mess with audio. I slowed down video using eac3to, slowed subs using bdsup2sub and it plays perfectly with your sync.
