The chestburster looks awesome haha. Loving the grain! Hopefully the 2.0 track isn't a mixdown.

So, sometimes it's darker, sometimes it's brighter. Sometimes it's warmer, sometimes it's cooler. But overall, it's better defined and you gain some extra picture left and right.

Over on Blu they were discussing how the "Director's Cut" scenes were using the old 2k master, so if you watch that one it branches between the new 4k and the old 2k one.

That's what you call taking a shortcut. Why didn't the studio did scan the whole thing while they were at it? It doesn't make much sense to me. Now that you mention it, if you compare some of the TC sections on the original BD to their DC equivalents, you can see a distinct difference in color timing. I noticed when I was monkeying around with making an extended edition for myself. If they used the old 2K footage for the DC, makes you wonder how the other extended editions will be handled.
They should of just let it be theatrical 4K only and have the DC on pack-in BD. Is the DC footage at least graded to match the new 4K? |
