I remember now.
I bought the two original DVDs, NTSC and Pal + a rip of the Laserdisc, because I wanted to reconstitute the original 70mm with the proper ending.
LD was to be an additional track in sync.
There is a problem with the version with credit on the Blu-ray, the credits do not appear in sync, sometimes they are unreadeable.

"Destruction of the Kurtz Compound" End Credits (with Non-Optional Audio Commentary by Francis Ford Coppola)
- Too bad it's not restored in 4k + only commentary.
Destruction of Kurtz's camp is not part of the Final Cut. - HTF
Even after 3 version of the film and it's still not part of any of them.
Here's a snippet from an interview from 2001 with Stephen Burum (who shot the compound destruction)
Pizzello: Let’s talk a bit about the explosion of the Kurtz compound, which was only shown over the end credits of the initial 35mm release prints. That footage never appeared in the 70mm prints, and Mr. Coppola has acknowledged that its inclusion in the 35mm credits caused some confusion about the film’s ending.
Burum: Everybody tried to make a big deal out of that footage, but the only reason Francis included it in the 35mm prints was because Joe Lombardi got really upset when it was removed from the original cut. Francis arranged this work-in-progress screening for the cast and crew at the Bruin Theater in Westwood, and when it was over, Joe grabbed Francis in the lobby and jumped all over him: “Damnit, I had my effects guys all over the jungle to shoot that scene!” So in order to placate Joe, Francis put the footage over the credits, which led to all of this speculation about the film’s ending.

Endings:
the end credits rolling over surrealistic explosions.
the end credits rolling over a simple black background and a slightly altered musical score.
Preserving Destruction:
Now for new BD, films is listed with full running time - maybe with end credits - musical score, or it's only mistake.
Over Spleen is LD with end credits over a black background - PCM.
Using highest audio quality and just put it over footage with credits from BD.

The end explosions credits need to be redone with the credit layered out in sync.
They are out of sync on the Blu-ray, the only way to do it is use the initial DVD release and sync it by visual and sound judgment.

Just got back from it: I noticed 2 scenes removed from Redux. That would be the guys joining the Bunnies to f*** them, and the one near the end, when Kurtz reads a Time Magazine (I think) article to a captive Willard in a metal container kind of jail-cell. There might be other differences, but if so, I did not notice them.
EDIT: and I just noticed the UHD just dropped today.
