1. At around 20:43-20:44, as Lesko is on the phone, there is a brief digital glitch that extends horizontally across the screen.
2. At around 55:28, during the close-up of the thermostat showing the temperature dropping after several of the solar siege towers have collapsed, there is a similar digital glitch.
3. At about 65:57 the aspect ratio appears to briefly fluctuate. (Possibly something to do with the insertion of the original reel?)
As I know essentially nothing about any of the processes involved in making this edit available, I don't know if any of the above can be addressed. Regardless, thank you very much for your efforts in putting this together--insofar as I'm concerned this is the definitive version of the film, and is the only version of it I'll be returning to. Cheers--
Thanks for sharing your observations!
I've looked into the 3 hiccups you've listed and it would appear that the 2 digital glitches must've happened during the disc-ripping process. Probably something to do with the 10+ year old PC that I was using at the time!
At 65:57, the thin 1.85:1 letterbox matte bars disappear for a split second before re-appearing. That's native to the disc. I wonder if that's 101's stuff up or if it's also present on the Olive Films release?
Oh, by the way, if you're curious the reel change occurs at ~70:21.
I'll have a look into correcting at least the first 2 errors. I'll also take a look at the Olive films version and see if the letterbox glitch is on that and pinch that shot from there if it isn't. Otherwise, if there's anyone that would like to do a quick fix, I can make that shot available to them.
Thanks again and thanks for your interest.
