The New Line DVD have the original theatrical mix. Should be the same as the Criterion LD

Yep, I have that. I’d just like the LD audio to compare. During the chase scene, I noticed that the audio seems to get quieter during gunshots on the New Line DD5.1, which I don’t recall being the case on the LD.

A lot of early DVDs which were based on LD masters still underwent a stealth remix, plus discs with a sole 5.1 track almost certainly had the rear channels manipulated to accommodate pro-logic playback on stereo TVs, usually at the expense of the sound field.
I have the Criterion CAV LD plus the standard New Line LD, I haven't compared them directly but the Criterion AC-3 is a near-field remix (it says in the leaflet) but at least it was supervised by Ren Klyce. Apparently a music cue was moved slightly to accommodate a side break.
I can cap the AC-3 if you're still interested Croweyes1121, I'll do it when I get a chance

I can also capture the audio but Zoidberg beat me to it.
Program material is recorded on the other side of this disc...

Anyone ever come to a verdict on the audio mixes here? I've got both the CLV AC3 pressing and the Criterion pressings but never did an A/B with them. First time I saw the film was on the CLV edition, what an experience.

I captured a section of the Criterion LD's AC-3 track for Croweyes to compare with the DVD, the verdict was the mixes were the same. I should think the CLV LD has the same mix too. It's a good mix even though it's a near field remix, I love the look of the Criterion too even though it isn't technically the CCE look, just how Fincher graded it at the time. Since then he has changed his mind lol
