Star Wars 4k project
#1
Would anyone object to using the 4k bluray of Star Wars ANH and 4k77 to create a 4k despecialized edition?
I know Harmy said he would get around to it, but... if I wanted to do it, would anyone object?

I have to say I really like the look of Ohteedee's project over on the Star Wars Trilogy but don't like the absence of proper film grain. I've not seen the 4K version yet so don't know how much that will add to the D+ version he's used so far.

Isn't the official 4K version badly done, with over processed picture, and some posterisation?

D+77 v1.2 1080p was released last week:

This is the last version using the Disney+ web rips. v2.0 (which uses the newly released Bluray) is ready to render. It's just waiting for the UHD version of D+80 to finish rendering... SE Footage replaced using the lossless sources from 4K77.

D+80 v2.0 1080p x264 35Mbps (sourced from the new Bluray, with replacement footage directly from the same lossless sources being used for 4K80)

Both of these are by Oohteedee.

D+83 (borrowing from 4K83) is in the works by somebody else, but there have been no releases yet.

I don't want to start a new thread so I'll post here if you don't mind. Some screenshot comparison between Disney new release in 4k UHD (taken from Caps-a-holic) and the 4k77 version. Nevermind colors from the official release, they clearly haven't been properly downconverted from HDR.

I preserve movies as they first appeared in Italy.

The differences in the first shot are pretty interesting!
