Yes... UHD BD is now Dolby Atmos only. Paramount didn't include any original mixes in english.

If the early DVD is the 6-track that would certainly save me from looking for the AC-3 laserdisc. However I think Paramount have a good track record of remixing for DVD, even the early stuff

Is the 6.1 track from the Japanese blu-ray note-worthy? Or is it just another crappy new mix like the atmos?

Someone called ac3 on original fanres has synced the laserdisc to UHD.

The 5.1 on all releases is believed to be the 70mm mix with a few volume tweaks.

I'm almost certain the DVDs are stemming from a remix, especially given the fact that several releases out there seem to be 5.1 Dolby Digital EX, which would equate to a matrixed 6.1.

willarob just got the Untouchables Japan LD Laserdisc PILF-1617 I sent him for capture.

I think I already have one of the US LDs captured too. Should be interesting comparing them

The DVD would be nice too, as indeed I agree with you that Paramount was one of the best on early DVD track record. But their AC-3 LD were usually even better.

It's just a raw capture. But it might be worh waiting a few days for the JP cap. JP LDs are usually slightly better than their US counterpart.

No worries, based on what ac3 was saying it only needs a delay at the beginning so will give it a go, willarob plain stereo track from p/s ld was all over the place with the sync delays etc so gave up on that one. Look forward to JP cap for comparison. Thanks again.
