Streets of Fire (1984) - Best audio?

Looking at the spectral analysis, it seems the 2013 and 2017 tracks are victims of the loudness war with the Steelbook audio being closer in dynamic range to the LD.

Having recently become a fan of this movie, I'm curious also.

I haven't done much analysis on these to be honest, I was at one point going to resync the LD capture, then I got my own copy of it on LD from a different release which I haven't yet looked at (although I think it was actually the first LD I physically got in my hands). A cursory look suggested that the 4.1 on the steelbook is probably the way to go, but I haven't watched the film with it yet because I got it after I'd just watched the UK release.

How does the video (read: colors) of the LD compare?

Hey @BDgeek @ac3 do you have the steelbook-exclusive 4.1 track I sent you before? (also sent to @pipefan413 but pretty sure he's not around anymore)

Was grabbing a copy for @PDB but my disc is not ripping successfully anymore for some reason... I can get a hold of a friend's Blu Ray drive and try to rip with that in a few days but would be easier if someone has the 4.1 track I sent out.

Tried it on another Blu Ray drive. And yup, not working still. Very bizarre.

Did you try doing a full dump of the disc instead of just ripping the movie file?

@stwd4nder2 no, I haven't. How does one do that in MakeMKV?

I tried using TSMuxer as well to just rip the audio track but that didn't work.

File > Backup
Sometimes I run into weird issues where ripping fails but making a backup works. Then just open the index.bdmv in makemkv and rip like normal.

@stwd4nder2 good suggestion but unfortunately did not work either.

While we are talking about the 4.1, does anyone have the PCM form this US WS LD?

Or the UK Second Sight BD?

VIDEO:

  1. 2013 UK Second Sight Blu-ray Disc: AVC encode from old master (very green, not very great fidelity)

    [b]AUDIO:
  2. 2013 UK Second Sight Blu-ray Disc: 16-bit LPCM 2.0 (Dolby Stereo matrix encoded L|C|R|S)
+ 16-bit DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (I guess upmixed from the 4.0 as discrete channels instead of being 2.0 encoded, with a low pass filter to derive LFE etc.)
