I also have a soft-spot for "Poltergeist III". I admit it's not as good as the previous two, especially not as good as the first one, but I still think it's a bit underrated. Yeah, it has its flaws and the tragic story about Heather O'Rourke that had a massive impact on everything about the film, especially the ending. But I still enjoy watching it somehow - even though almost half of the dialogue is just screaming for Carol-Anne.

Another film that I like even though most people don't is the 2006-remake of "When A Stranger Calls". Don't know what it is about this one, but I liked it better than the 1979-film which is only interesting for the first and last 20 minutes and terribly boring for the rest of its runtime. However, the 2006-film only focusses on the first 20 minutes of the 1979-version. If it was made today it'd probably be different with FaceTime, Insta-stories and all that stuff. But in 2006 people were using their cell phones for actually calling someone - unbelievable from today's point of view.

I absolutely hate this movie. Technically is very beautiful. But on the structure level and how certain scenes are set up I got the "What are they trying to say?" "Wait! She is a guy?!" WTF!
And it's booooooring as fuck.

From the ones already mentioned, I'll second HippeDalek words for Highlander 2. It's a beautfully shot film and a enjoyable movie on it's own.

I'll also vouch for Rambo III, even though it's inferior to parts I and II, it has some of the most awesome action set pieces and major scale battles before CGI. I also enjoy the soundtrack very much, as with the previous installments. And I think I can never have enough Stallone of the 80ies or early 90ies, always fun.

Going the other way with unpopular opions toward movies seemingly everyone else enjoys, it's Rambo (part IV) that I can't stand. IMO it's the movie where Stallone is in his the worst shape, but that's not really what takes it apart for me, it's rather the poorly shot action sequences with very choppy editing. Basically, the climax resumes to Rambo climbing up a vehicle with a minigun and shooting down everyone else. No creativity, no elaborate action, one of Stallene's worse IMO, but at least above part V (which I had great hopes for).

I can kind of see where you're coming from but I love Rambo 4. You have to remember Stallone was in his 60s when he did Rambo 4 and for a 60 year old he looked pretty damn good. I will agree the choppy editing is one of the weaker points of the film which was made worse by some not so great CGI. However, the dialogue was interesting to me, Stallone had some great lines like "Live for nothing or die for something", and the finale was very satisfying. The inclusion of brutal, over-the-top violence was a welcome surprise for a Rambo film, violence the likes of which we hadn't seen in the previous 3. I mean that machine gun was turning people into freaking cranberry sauce which is something a .50 caliber would do to you in real life. It was definitely a WTF moment when I first saw it because I had never seen gore like that in a Rambo movie. If it wasn't for the gore and extreme violence maybe I wouldn't have liked it as much. The movie has a slow build-up that really pays off at the end when Rambo delivers the punishment those monsters deserved. Though I can agree that it's the weakest of the first 4 Rambo movies

I acknowledge the positive points you mentioned, but having recently revisited the movie once more for the UHD release ('ve watched it about 3 or 4 times total), I still think they are outweighted by the negatives (but I can equally understand this balancing going the other way around for other folks).

But regarding the fitness/shape thing, my criticism is not really age related, because he got in a much better shape for The Expendables and a insanely/incredible looking shape for Bullet to the Head.

Heck, I think he's in a better shape for Last Blood, some 11 years later, than he was at the time in 2007/2008.

Rocky Baldoa (2006), this one a great film in my opinon BTW, is the runner up for Sly's worst shape (Copland not withstanding of course)

edit: having mentioned Bullet to the Head (2012), I just realized it's one that would fit the bill for this thread, I guess Walter Hill cannot totally be dismissed.

Plus, the "bad Superman" stuff is both an acting masterclass and comedy gold, all in one.
