Enemy Territory (1987)
#1
Action movie from Empire Pictures (Charlie Band's company before Full Moon) with Ray Parker Jr., Tony Todd, and Jan Michael Vincent about an insurance agent that gets trapped in an apartment building by a street gang that is out for blood.

Apparently legal issues are holding up any chance of this getting an hd release (most likely music related). Seems to be only available on VHS, even though wikipedia lists it as being released on both VHS and Laserdisc under the CBS/Fox label.

Was this actually given a Laserdisc release? I cannot find concrete info on such a release and that includes even an image of said release.

Seems, as if there was a DVD release in the Netherlands.

Have to wonder if it official, I wouldn't be shocked if it was a VHS rip at this point. Was more over curious if the LD really does exist and it's specs. Had no luck with any Laserdisc databases, which potentially means the info on Wikipedia is essentially worthless (then again whatelse is new concerning bullshit info on Wikipedia?). Thanks anyway

Might be an official VHS rip... At Bbeginning times of DVD, at least in Germany some smaller companies used their old VHS or laser disc masters as basis for DVD releases.
To check if it's really just a plain NL VHS rip on DVD, it would be interesting to see if the subs are burned in, or regular DVD subs...

A couple of boutique label insiders have more or less alluded that the cost of the music rights would hold it up any possible hd release, Blu-ray or otherwise. With $100K+ being mentioned as the starting point, I don't even see one of the bigger boutique labels bothering with it. Sad to think that the only available version might be off of old VHS tapes, but that is true for who knows how many films. Was really hoping that there would of been a widescreen LD release, but it seems as if that is probably false info.

I try to get a NL DVD of that movie. So I'll check, if I get one, if it is indeed with burned in subs, and likely the origin of the youtube upload.

Hopefully it doesn't cost you too much. It will at least be interesting to see the disc specs and if it is a legit release or not. Have a pretty strong feeling it will be the source of that youtube rip, but there is only one way of knowing for sure. Thanks for looking into it regardless, at least then there will be info available concerning that disc for anybody else that is curious about it.
