They always do a new mix for a new release, it’s always inevitable. Just hope Paramount pull a Grease and include the original 70mm mix in 5.1 lossless in addition to having a 35 mm 2.0 mix.

That is my issue, they are instead of the original mix
Look and see what Sony is doing with Last Action Hero they’re including a new mix, but also adding the original 5.1 (and I mean original as it was the very first with SDDS) and 2.0 mix. George Lucas doesn’t have control over the series anymore, why can’t paramount include original mix 70mm DS mix in 5.1 and 35mm in 2.0? Yeah I get cleaning up the opticals to get rid of those black lines and correction to the snake reflection in the glass but leaving the original mix out doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Yea Sony are doing that and it's great.
Shame it isn't the SDDS 8 track

It would’ve been nice to happen in 7.1 but hey I think they kind of learned from Labyrinth not everyone wants an Atmos track only, people want options and they’ll get options.
Edit: my only concern is Video right now, but I am semi excited for this set I might order if it’s good.

The reason why I’m comparing this upcoming release from Paramount to One from Sony because people need to know to ask and demand the original mixes Be on the new releases along side the new mix this is basically the 40th anniversary set and the films should almost look (because of the recomposing of the visual FX and removal of beloved errors) and definitely should sound like they did from 81 to 89.(Except for Donovan’s full line in The Last Crusade, you ain’t getting that back.)
Edit: he still says the line, but one word has been edit it out from all video versions.

The buzz alone would have generated double the sales.

Is there any news on a new Young Indy release? Really quite underrated show, and the DVD was excellent; but a new HD release would be brilliant.

It's a shame they're not including original theatrical audio, I'm hoping Sony's great work in supporting original mixes helps push the practice in becoming more of a standard. Wishful thinking, but one can dream.

Do you know whats also a shame Paramount puts out very awesome transfers when bothered to but won’t include the original audio as an option most of the time oh yeah you’ll get it with a few select titles but others you’re gonna have to pull out your old laserdisc player just to get the original audio. WB has a bad track record for including original mixes on certain movies but Warner archive has a better track record then most of these boutique labels.

The Hunt For Red October was released in Dolby SR Stereo on the 35mm prints. I wonder why they didn't include the original 2.0 mix on the UHD BD

Anything by paramount has been easy to sync from laserdisc. Getting them from anyone on here is the hard part tho xD

That’s because it’s the 70 mm mix presented in 5.1 in the mid to late 90s Paramount transferred it to AC-3, same thing with Patriot Games.
