The extra frame is during the bi-plane sequence. I was mistaken in my original post.

OK. I added the extra frame to the 2.0 stereo track for TLC.
Actually I didn't even need to replace the audio, just moving it up 24ms did the trick. There's no jump or gap. You would never know it was changed at all. If anyone wants this new sync I can upload it for a while. Let me know.

Also uploaded LD audio for TEMPLE and RAIDERS.

I think the UHDs take worst 4K of the year due to the changes made to all the effects shots, color inconsistencies and lack of any original audio. The final official releases with zero changes are the LDs and I think the final letterbox 1999 VHS trilogy box.
What I'd like to do is fix the UHDs by replacing all the redone effects shots with print sourced shots and then sync the DVD 5.1, any original audio tracks we've found plus fun ones like the letterbox Raiders LD audio. This is way beyond my technical abilities but it's how I would do it.

Are there print scans for the other two movies? I've only seen Raiders floating around.

The strange thing about the FX changes on the Indy trilogy is that they've been designed not to draw attention to themselves (unlike Star Wars FX changes). So on the one hand it's good that they're not distracting (to me at least) but on the other hand pointless because the only people who are noticing them don't approve. An 4K81 etc., would be a very interesting prospect... but for now I've stuck with the UHD masters and LD audio.

Not on the Blu-rays, no. But pretty much all of them on UHD. Every composite was redo ne to erase the black lines, for instance, in all three: scenes like the lightning storm when removing the cover stone in Raiders, walking through the cave and running away from water in Temple, the airplane fight in Crusade, etc.

There is a 4K AI Upscaled version of the 2012 BD Trilogy Transfers available on various torrent sites that, in my opinion, looks way better than the official 4k release, mainly due to the colors being brighter on the older masters

They also removed the glass partition that's visible in the Well of Souls, and, if I recall correctly, the poles attached to the falling boulder at the beginning were also removed.
Honestly, yeah, the changes may be inappropriate from a film history stand point, but they fix flaws that couldn't be fixed at the time. They aren't full on CG upgrades like Star Wars. Changes like this still make me uncomfortable, but it's not like I didn't see these fx flaws when they pulled me out of immersion in the films. |
