Source is freely available here: https://youtu.be/8J_b8lUajy4 (discovered on oririnaltrilogy thanks to a post by Avatar_Emil_Borg)
I had few hours free, so I took it, cut the borders, increase the contrast - that had the welcome side effect to increase the saturation too - then I just corrected the colors a tiny bit and slight denoised; downscaled to 1080p, and muxed to mkv with ac3 sound (just to make it BD compliant, if someone would like to mux to .m2ts).
Have fun!

Frankly, I dunno... but as there is a fan made dub, maybe there are subs too!

I was able to find some subtitles and get them converted to SRT. Need to do some timing adjustments, hopefully they line up without too much trouble and then I'll convert them to PGS.

Nice find! Looks great for a 16mm print! Good guess that the uploader synced VHD/LD stereo audio as the 16mm print is assumed to have optical mono audio?
It's been widely perceived that this Super Mario Bros film has a rights issue and the original elements were lost/destroyed. Wikipedia says it was co-produced with Nintendo and Shochiku (who also acted as distributor), and animated by a firm called Grouper Productions.
Shochiku probably still owns distribution rights and possess some sort of film elements. I could see someone like Discotek or Sentai try to get this film a proper release, though Nintendo could also have a say and block or charge a stupid amount for distribution rights.

Is it possible the sync is off on your version sporv? Everything seems about a second behind compared to the Youtube vid.

Is it possible... but I noticed that, despite the dialogs are usually out of sync, the sound effects are not; feel free to get the original audio and put in sync, I've already deleted everything!

Weird, it was the SFX that made me question it. Right in the beginning when Peach comes out of the TV the effect was way delayed. I'll take another look at it today.

Yeah something strange has happened here.
The source video has length of 1:05:30; but at about 1:01:09 after the Game Over screen, it's just 4mins of black screen.
spoRv's version is exactly the same length and framerate (24fps) except the Game Over screen is right at the end of the video. Therefore it has been stretched out and plays at a slower speed. The audio is the same pitch as source, but is also stretched out however still not in sync.
@ spoRv fancy another go? Your colours look really nice. Would it be possible to retain the grain from the source too? Although there is a bit of macroblocking even at 4K resolution (probably due to YouTube compression).

Sorry, as I wrote I deleted everything...
Still, if someone is interested, this is the avisynth script (except noise reduction):
Code: ffvideosource("Super Mario Bros.mkv").trim(0,94326)
crop(40,130,-34,-130).spline36resize(1492,1080)
levels(42,1.5,235,0,255)
ColorYUV(off_u=-1, off_v=5)
### if you want to use noise reduction or something else, put it here ###
addborders(214,0,214,0)
