What was the original mix? Dolby stereo or Dolby digital (it came out after Batman Returns if I'm not wrong)?

"Which not only confirms the Dolby Digital, it also states ?this Laserdisc would be the best for the original audio, and the P&S Laerdisc may not even be the Dolby Digital, but the Dolby Stereo."
If there was a Dolby digital, then the DTS-HDMA 5.1 from the european blu-ray should be right. Isn't it?

All Disney BD 5.1 tracks are almost certainly remixes. The Lion King SE DVD included the theatrical 5.1 as an option. But everything since then have been "home theatre" mixes.
EDIT: Seems the Aladdin SE DVD also has the original 5.1 in addition to the "Enhanced Home Theatre" mix.

I think it's meant to be "English 5.1 Disney Enhanced Home Theater Mix". Check the menu; you should see both tracks.

I just compared the LD 5.1 from The Lion King with the "Original" 5.1 track on the SE DVD. The LD track (which we might presume is the true theatrical mix) is far more dynamic. The DVD is much flatter and has the LFE toned down.
So it's likely that the "Original" mix on the Aladdin DVD is also a toned-down version of the true theatrical mix but is probably the closest thing to it that's available.

It might be due to DVD compression, a lot of LD AC3 tracks sound superior to the DVD counterparts once you hear them. I did not know Aladdin was a Dolby digital mix film. Luckily something closer to the original AC-3 mix albeit in 2.0 is the 1994 THX LB LD it sounds a lot brighter if they had waived the Disney vault status for the renaissance films we would’ve been seeing AC3 versions of Aladdin.
