Irrfan Khan is one of the greatest character actors in India today. The only reason he gets these high profile Hollywood movies like Jurassic World and Ron Howard's Inferno is because of his acting skills and dynamic screen presence.
You should watch The Lunchbox (2013), Life of Pi (2012), Paan Sing Tomar (2012), New York, I Love You (Mansukhbhai segment "Mira Nair) (2008) and The Namesake (2006) to see what a good character actor he is. We Indians are very proud of him. Give his films a go and you'll like him as well, trust me.  Actually he reminds me more of a middle-aged Jeff Goldblum.

Well, Masrani (Irrfan Khan) did face a traumatic and terrifying moment with Pteranodons, but for a fleeting moment only. I think it'd have been better if he jumped off the chopper at the last minute, slid on the glass wall of the aviary, fallen on a bush and suffered from internal hemorrhage. Jake Johnson could've spotted him and sent a rescue party to bring him back. We could have got a nice memorable scene with him talking about his dreams as a child in his native village in India; his humble origins and the present hubris. And then he would've died from his internal injuries. This would've given a good emotional and character-oriented depth to the film which is very much lacking. He is a great actor and should have been used more. It's a lost opportunity.

I would have been happy with this scenario. He did have a genuine feel to him, maybe them cutting it short was what bothered me about it.

Watched it for the second time today - but first time open matte... well, it is even more gorgeous, visually; everything was perfect - no "dead air" on top, no useless "things" on bottom, nothing - so I don't understand why they did not release it in 1.78:1 instead of 2.00:1...
