Based on these shots, the new color grading is really nice. Good job. I can't even imagine the ordeal to finish this project. I know about the Japanese cut but I have never seen it.

101 Films is releasing a special edition Blu Ray of Johnny Mnemonic in May, it will include the Japanese version but in SD only. Can't imagine a new master will be used

I imagine they reuse the master Turbine also used. I think a new master would have been announced.
Turbine and Japanese BD both had the Japanese cut as SD bonus.

Yeah I know the extended cut has been released a few times prior, just letting people here know a new release is imminent for those who wish to buy it. I see there's still no sign of the recent black and white presentation being released

I think the B&W version is a digital exclusive. Think it's available on the US iTunes store bundled with the theatrical cut

Yeah, 101 is not known to dish out new masters of their own. I have some from them and a lot of the times it's just stuff that was previously released elsewhere and in many cases the 101 release had an inferior bitrate. Not to say that it's a bad bitrate, just inferior than previous bigger US releases. Still, they cost me less than importing them from the US so I usually wait on the 101 port.
They definitely need Alleycat at 101 Films ahah

A lot of the 'boutique' labels are literally an office with an internet connection, everything is handled by 3rd party contractors (artwork, encoding, special features, restoration work, QC etc). Very few are in-house.
Just out of curiosity what's the audio for the Extended edition on the HD releases like? I know the video is SD and most likely will be evermore but have any releases included a lossless track? Also on facebook it was asked whether the 101 release of the Extended would have subtitles for the Japanese dialogue and apparently it will.

I'm watching Alleycat's release and it's just fantastic. I'll put it on disc and keep it as my go-to version.
