U are way are better off with hard drives .yes they do fail but so does cds. I have back ups and refurbished drives are cheap. I haven't used physical media since the early 2010s. It's much less work and no extra shelf space to worry about .
I import blu-rays using makemkv and convert dts ma / pcm to flac sometimes I gain an extra gig if I do that.
For organizing media
Kodi or Jriver are the best apps I've used so far. I prefer Kodi cause it's easier but jriver does all the pro logic Iix stuff for my dac and it supports madvr upscaling for my projector . Much better than any top of the line blu-ray player . Av receivers are getting obsolete as well since u can get better sound using a USB dac with a good power amp.
