Making BD screencaps
#1
Is there an easier way to do BD screencaps than converting to mkv first? I’m used to doing that for when I want to extract a commentary but it takes quite a while when you just want to get some screencaps of a disc.

Have you ripped your BD or are you just playing the disc through a BD drive?

You can use MakeMKV + VLC to just play the disc directly without ripping it first

Doesn't your player have screen capture options? I use Leawo Blu-Ray Player.

Normally I use MPC-hc but it won’t allow you to take screencaps of Blu-ray Discs. I’ve been having to rip to mkv, take screencaps and then delete the mkv.

Arcsoft TotalMedia Theater allows you to take screenshots from Blu Ray without the need to copy files, just run the disc through it, it also takes screenshots from the disc menu

Seem to remember reading something that if a software player wanted to be certified by the Blu-ray Disc Association they had to meet certain conditions and one of them was disabling screen grabbing. DVD Fab Player does allow it but Cyberlink Power DVD doesn't, that even disables the print screen function and the snipping tool.
