Forgive me for asking a question that is only tangentially relevant to you resyncing it, but is the original Disney castle animation intro intact on the UHD release, or is it plastered over with the stupid modern one like it is on the 1080p Blu-ray Disc? At least this will restore the music, but I wonder how you decided to handle that section in terms of sync if the logo is changed in the picture. (I settled on syncing to the PAL DVD in the end because of the logo problem but was intending to eventually get round to doing some kind of upscale on the original logo to end up with a watchable HD version.)

As the UHD is based on the 2009 3D reissue (which upscaled the master files to 2k and redid sections of the credits) it exhibits the same plastering.

The PAL DVD might work if one does a secret sauce upscale combining Topaz and some AA+ deringing plugins.

There were reportedly 4 pre-2009 HDTV copies (with the original WDP logos head and tale) floating around at some point. One was capped from Disney Cinemagic Japan and in 1080i 29.97 (watermark bug on bottom right, dubbed and with subtitle text translations, incomplete ending credits). The second was a 720p rip from ABC, but time compressed with fade ins/outs and warp sped preview squeezed ending credits. 3rd was from Disney Cinemagic France in 720p but French dubbed and localized titles. The 4th and the most elusive was a VOD capture from Comcast/CableVision being was the most complete with 5.1 audio and no watermark. Sadly these seem to be gone now as the places with them shut down or replaced them with BD rips.

This logo replacement is the single worst one I know of because the logo is *part of the damn film with the score happening over it* and they just badly jump-cut to the score halfway through a fade. It’s atrocious. Other than preserving the LaserDisc and DVD, I didn’t get round to the upscaling part yet. If only I could get one of those HDTV ones. Thanks for the info!

I've had no luck finding these since they were active wayyyy before 50mbs+ speeds were even a thing. I have some good news, an unnamed soul has offered to look into renting a VOD version off their Optimum box and see which version it is. It's probably the 2009 HD master but stranger things have happened.

IIRC, the UHD of A Bug's Life has the original castle logo in 4K.

I think I was at one point going to try a transplant like that but discovered something about where they cut it made it awkward? I will probably have another look at some point because it is exceptionally terrible, as logo plastering jobs go.

My sync follows the UHD, so it also awkwardly fades in mid-scene with the music.  I hope to revise at some point as it is not ideal, especially after hearing the original.
