La double vie de Véronique AKA The Double Life of Veronique
IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101765/
As some of you may know, the new UHD audio is botched has several missing parts, the OG audio is from Criterion DVD which does not have missing parts
PS - As I do not have the LD, so cant say what's up with it…
Either way, I successfully synced the DVD audio to UHD (Curzon).
Code: Around 20 min mark you will notice that during the background noise (prolly bus ride) there is some dialogue/monologue @ Criterion But that is missing on Curzon and other Blu-ray as well. Criterion BD has the same audio but audio quality wise CC DVD > CC BD (very marginally)
And furthermore, there are several instances you find audio parts missing in Curzon (Outside the sample)
53m:37.278
56m:53.000
and more
PM me if you need the file

If I understood correctly, the 5.1 on the Curzon is just fine?
It's the 2.0 that misses things?

The 2.0 Audio is a dowmix of the 5.1 UHD audio and is literally the same, has missing parts whereas criterion DVD for certain does not.

I see. Would it be possible @ xwmario or anyone else that downloads the audio, to present an audio comparison of a random clip, to understand what's missing?
I don't doubt you, but I compared your new audio (I had downloaded the sample from ptp) with the Criterion bluray, in the scene you described with the bus ride, and no matter how hard I tried, they sounded identical to me. I couldn't pinpoint the dialogue/monolgue that was missing.

Umm, What I could do is provide two clips and if you did check PTP the comments there are very clear with respect to the BD but anyways 2x clips one containing the CC- dvd audio and the other containing the uhd 5.1. I guess that should make things clear

Recorded using VLC, so ignore the quality and all
Mega
You can play them using MPV (hopefully)
Criterion audio- If you notice when the scene shifts to the bus ride, she is holding a piece of paper and reciting something, (A whisper of sorts)
UHD 5.1/2.0 - It is not there! (Removed, just the traffic noise)

Thank you very much.
Ok, now I noticed it, but again it's barely audible in the original mix as well.
I love the film and don't know now what to do. I was hoping this Curzon release was the definite version.
And if Criterion releases it, I'm sure it will be much inferior encoding-wise.
By the way, a bit off topic, but is the Curzon edition of the Three colors good audio wise?
I mean, there isn't anything missing there, is there?

I know a guy who sold his Criterion Blu-ray to buy Curzon UHD and was so disappointed with the audio.
Three colors-got no idea, as I did not work on it.

Nice!
Given Criterion/Pixelogic's track record of DNR'ing their video master first before encoding, I think I'm going to pick the Curzon UHD up at some point without waiting for Criterion. This sync will come in handy.
Re. Kieślowski's other works, do you happen to have a source for the Polish Warner DVD tracks of Dekalog / Decalogue? Blah-ray covered them at https://blah-ray.blogspot.com/2017/01/dekalog-1989.html I was only able to find an AAC transcode of the DVD tracks a while ago. They sound great for sure with the correct pitch sans the filtering, but I was just wondering if there's something even better out there.
