[Released] The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - Disney Mini Classics HD Restoration

When I was young it was a Halloween tradition in my house to watch Disney's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". The specific release we had was the Disney Mini Classic VHS, which is trimmed down from the full "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad"  and includes unique opening credits and promos.

This a re-creation of that tape, front to back, entirely in HD. The only up-scaled SD footage is the Disney home video logo (from the full movie LD) and the Mini Classics logo (from the VHS). 

For audio, it's mostly taken from the full movie LaserDisc (supplied by @bronan), with the VHS audio used when necessary. 

For video, the blu-ray was used for the Sleepy Hollow footage, and the opening credits & end promo have been re-created in HD. Huge thanks to @WXM for doing a lot of the heavy lifting in remaking assets in HD. Here's an example of his work:


Custom subtitles and chapters are included as well.

Since the wobble on the opening credits is so bad, and since it's only 6 static images with a dissolve between them, I attempted to re-create it by cleaning up the frames.

I'm not great at image editing, so it looks pretty much the same but without the shakiness. I'm sure someone more qualified could do a much better job (and anyone willing to try is welcome just PM me), but it's an improvement at least. There is one frame that I attempted to clean up taking some logos from the BD credits.

I'm conflicted on how this looks. The cleanness of the logos compared to the text seems kind of off-putting. But maybe that's just me. Curious to see what others here think.

A slight irony (on the good side) with your job is that you have the hardest/most unique things in HD now, but not the parts that are more or less just typing out text. I say more or less because finding the (exact or very close) three fonts might take a little time. BUT if you could find those three fonts or close enough to them and type out that text, then it seems you'd have a very nice all-HD recreation. As it stands currently, the difference between the HD elements at the bottom and the text stands out a little...but does that really matter much in this case?  Perhaps when this version you currently have in motion, this is all fine enough.

(One extra note I might add for this current one: maybe paint over the slight "lines" of light blue under the bottom "CERTIFICATE NO. _____" and circle for RCA.)

I cleaned up the edges a little more, and also added a bit of blur to the logos so they stand out a little less.

Since I'm insane I've decided to re-do the ending promo as well. The background image is just a re-colored frame frame from the full movie, so that's simple to source. And for some of the logos I can find high quality ones that are the same or at least similar enough. But some of them I have to clean up from the VHS. This will probably take awhile to clean up and assemble, but here's an example of my work so far:

I've done a decent amount of this kind of thing.  The following took me only 15 mins. and is a mod of your original, so it's accurate.  The second google drive link below is a dl of a "4k" png where you can drop your own layers beneath it, clean white (cursive) text.

Sure, I'll do that one later on when at my big graphics computer tonight or tomorrow.

Do you want me to smooth out the Something Wicked text a little (like the "C"'s lines) or do you believe/want it to look like that (with messy line edges like on the capital letters)?  I can't fully tell if all that unevenness should be there or if it's a lot of wiggling merely from VHS-ish-ness. I'm thinking at least a little smoothing out some of the edges would be better, and I could do a bit of that quickly enough. LMK your thoughts.

Both of these are quadruple the size of your screen-grab.  As before, these are png's with transparency for easy and clean/instant overlaying.  However, I have NOT done any dropshadowing.  (If you really wanted me to do that work too then let me know.)  I figured you could do it easily enough yourself with just a dupe layer turned black.
