So I'm having a bit of trouble with subtitles and was wondering I could get some advice. I demuxed the subs from the Blade Runner and Alien BDs and have them in .sup form. I need to modify the sup into txt/srt/whatever so I can edit them to fit my regraded BD that I'm making. I assume I have to use an OCR to convert the sup to txt.
For example with Blade Runner I cut out the Warner logo and need to convert the sup into text, re-do the timing and pop it into Adobe Encore to produce a BD. Anyone have a methodology?

CatBus has a great OCR program (ABBYY Finereader if I remember correctly), you can send him the file for conversion. IIRC it had very few errors with Latin alphabet.
I'm pretty sure you can also simply add delay to .sup subtitles. Try SubtitleCreator, I remember it having this option.

Well, based on personal experience, it's a lot easier and faster to just pull an srt file down which is why I suggested it. Then, verifying it or re-syncing (if needed) is extremely easy using subtitleworkshop. Lot less time-consuming than verifying if your image-based subtitles have been converted to text properly (which almost never happens and edits always have to be made) For downloading subtitles, I usually use opensubtitles, unless it's for tvshows, in which case it's addic7ed.com.

I must add that often the srt subs found on the web are converted from graphic files, hence with OCR errors... so, pay attention, because sometimes those errors are repeated dozen times, for a grandtotal of over an hundred - personal experience...

Is there an automatic way to convert the timing of pal subtitles to ntsc subtitles?
Assuming the masters are the same video wise. I just need some tool that calculate the difference and fix the srt file indexes.
