This kind of attitude won't endear you towards project makers.

It feels disingenuous for me to just start leaving random comments as I wait to seem more "engaged" for other project makers. I have to wait 60 days to PM as Film Whisperer requires a PM, hence me saying I'm waiting. How can I comment on his projects if I can't even view them in that time? Am I now unwelcome because his projects are what brought me to the forum in the first place and interest me? If I don't interact with every project on here, am I now disrespecting those project makers? I'm trying to understand your reasoning, as you seem upset at the first comment I made on a project was to tell the creator I'm anxiously waiting to experience his project?

It just means waiting is not enough. Serums advises you to use this waiting interval to be active in discussions in here. There are several threads where you can get involved. It's not all about projects. This is not a torrent site where you grab the one thing that you want and just leave, feeling entitled to do so. If you don't understand that principle, then yeah, I guess you are unwelcome. That's the gist of Serums' comment.

You're certainly not unwelcome, friend. Nor am I upset.

Even if at the moment you can only leave comments for projects you're waiting to see (which is cool), feel free to chip in with input on upcoming or in progress projects. You never know, you may also have a home video release that someone might need an audio track from or a home video release that someone could use as reference for colour correction.
Even contributing to general film threads goes a long way.

Some project makers here are reluctant to share their hard work with people that don't actively contribute to the forum in some way or another. Even if you're not making your own projects. So simply waiting, no matter how enthusiastic you may be, may not always do you favours.

It may seem a little harsh at first to simply tell you not just to 'wait', but it is nicer to have newer posting members that actually want to ingratiate themselves into the forum. And I apologise if I've come across as harsh or blunt there, that wasn't my intention. But we see too many members wait out their 60 days, ask for whatever projects they're interested in, then we don't see them again.

Edit: I started writing this in response to you before seeing that Beber expanded on my initial point. Thanks, Beber!

I just want to say that I had a chance to watch this, and I think it's the best way to watch the movie. Really great work!

Definitely appreciate your response, I was a bit taken aback at first reading your and beber's messages after I'd literally just joined the forum. I understand better now the spirit and intention, thanks for taking the time! I hadn't even explored the other sub-forums yet to know what other discussions were being had on the site at the time, but I've definitely been finding my way around since. Will certainly contribute what I have to offer when and if I see the opportunity in the future

Glad to hear that, friend.

We've seen plenty of new users join for specific projects, send a PM to the thread creator and then disappear (whether or not they got the project). Now even with that 60 days waiting period, we still see people wait it ouy and then hit and run.

The fact that you're taking this advice on board and want to stick around and actually contribute is great for the future of the forum.

Enjoy!
