Frankenstein (1931) Audio Preservation
A quick thanks to Moshrom for including my sampled videos in his Frankenstein article in his Bad Audio on Blu-ray list! Smile

http://blah-ray.blogspot.ca/2016/09/fran...-1931.html

Anyways I'm pretty much through commenting about this on blu-ray.com because apparently to some they think its my way, as well as another who brought up the missing branches in Bride of Frankenstein, of ruining the BDs for everyone. Yeah thats not what was happening but apparently being nitpicky shows lack of respect to these films on BD so yeah done with that. I wanna make it clear if I haven't already, I have nothing but total respect for anyone here who has their preferred method of watching anything. VHS, LD, DVD, BD, Netflix, etc. If the contents there for your enjoyment I'm with you all the way. Anyways maybe I'm rambling here but you guys basically know I do from time to time. I thank everyone for the support you've given this project and look forward to what Jerry has in store for us in the near future! Smile

Yeah, I got those audio tracks for the commentary and, honestly, the LD audio and the Spanish BD audio sound better. However, thanx for the suggestionWink

Yeah, commenting on blu-ray.com and getting the majority to agree with you is like expecting wikipedia to always be factual, LOL... Tongue

You are always welcome to "rant" over here and most of us will agree with you or at least acknowledge your point of view. You, Sir, are a purist like most of us here and... surprise! We are a minoritySad But we are here for you brothaWink

Nothing big to post about yet, just "trucking along" with the project and wanted to respond to posts...

Well thank you Jerry. My experience through this site so far, and I've only been here since December, has always been positive so thumbs up there. You guys have been supportive and very helpful and I can't thank you guys enough. Smile

Yeah the guy I argued with as he said it really did not 'see the point' of why I would mention this and thinks I'm ruining the BD's for everyone. To each his own I guess. I don't say I don't like Led Zeppelin and expect everyone else not to (for the record I DO like Led Zeppelin! Wink ). Anyways I've been hearing almost unanimous praise over these new releases with likely the chief complaint being that both sets have many of the same films. This personally doesn't bother me because they did the same with the 2014 DVDs, which I have, and I was fine with it. Keep in mind these sets are individual.

Slightly off topic but these sets are now running on Amazon for $19.99 for those planning on checking them out! For now I'll be sticking with my 2014 DVD set although I am eager to see the new print of Son of Frankenstein since it has almost a minute of additional footage within the film! Additionally Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of Frankenstein will be on tomorrow night on TCM!

Anyways back on topic. Yeah I too don't have much to add at the moment other than thanks to those who've been following and of course to you Jerry for posting when you can. It's been a hectic year for some of us but hopefully something will become of this before the end of the year. Until then I'm quite happy with just this whole discussion and hope I've made some kind of difference with this whole thing. The film is a classic and while I know most are likely fine with the BD as is I still appreciate those who have taken the time to see my side of the argument. Anyways thats about all I got and thanks everyone again for checking in! Big Grin

As spooky movies tend to pop up on Ebay this time of year, is there anything we should keeping an eye out for? There's already a 16mm Franky listed.

That would be up to Jerry at this point, the sync master! Smile

Indeed. Did anybody noted if there is anything wrong with the image on te BR compared to former editions ? Also, as a bonus to this project, can we include the first release of Dracula and Bide of Frankenstein ? Do we know if Universal missed anything in their bonus selections (trailers, or anything else rarely seen) ?

Last night I started a separate project where we might undo some 'fixes' done to the BDs of Frankenstein and Bride.

https://fanrestore.com/thread-1086.html

Haven't gotten any responses yet but even if that goes nowhere it's not that big a deal. Having a restored audio track for Frankenstein is what I wanna see, well hear, the most!

I don't exactly know what you mean by first release of Dracula and Bride of Frankenstein. Could you elaborate??

As far as trailers go there are these.

Those trailers also appear on the DVD Heroes of Horror. However the uploader of those on YouTube got them from 16mm prints. Note that all footage in the trailers are alternate takes and even a few glimpses of stuff not in the films?? The Edward Van Sloan scene in the Dracula trailer is from a screen test.

First release = First time released on screen... The Dracula trailer here is exactly what I meant. The Frankenstein one is a new one to me (even if it's from the 1938 re-release). What's missing is Bride.

You didnt specify trailers when you initially said first release which is why I was confused. Anyways Ive yet to see any alternate trailers for Bride. Only the Realart trailer on the BD/DVD. However I am looking for a release with these two Creature trailers since theyre not on the official releases.

Woops. Just re-read my original message. Should have proof checked it before posting. As for the trailer of BRIDE, there was one on youtube, but apparently it was taken down. You can still see some part of it in the one of the Universal's documentaries availaible on DVD/Blu-Ray.
