Nice comment!
Just post an alternative to yellow round smilies, though.

I missed the vote! I've been disenfranchised! My bussed-in rent-a-mob protesters agree! We demand a recount!

The ones that spoRv has submitted are actually flat design...

I came across these smileys. Drawn in 3D-ish, they could be flattened and contrasted to look more line-drawn. (They're displayed here at 50% to give the idea of how they would look in context. Use your browser's view image to see it's original full size.) :
Of course, males use the top smileys, and females, the bottom.
That's the Apple set. Presumably I can just enter those as text and you'll see them if on a Mac or iPhone.
Edit: Tested, not working. That's a bit strange, because they're just characters (and I tried a bit of Japanese text and it worked fine).

Thanks for the ID! In the little bit of research I did, prompted by it, I'd guess you probably need to download/install the font file for those smileys to show. The PC I'm using wouldn't have such Apple fonts by default but I'm sure someone somewhere has worked up whatever is needed to show it on a PC, too.
In any case, the forum here probably by-passes all that by doing it internally.

The nice ones are the last two IMHO; I feel the urge to set up a SINGLE emoticon set ASAP, so if you have another set in mind, please post here!

They should be clean and simple. Otherwise, they become hard to distinguish at the size they must fill.
Secondly, the emotions displayed should be separated. One "happy" makes the point; three shades of happy clouds the point. Also, 12 smileys should be the maximum emotions to represent. More than that results in a "what's that mean?" reaction. Plus animated, and that would be set! On the other hand ... is there a set with "film & movies" flavor? |
