[Tool] EternalDub – free tool to sync old dubs onto better video sources

Hey everyone!

After a long time planning and testing, I developed a tool to preserve classic dubs: EternalDub.

Many old dubbed films only survived on bad sources (TV recordings, VHS, old DVDs), and because of that, a lot of them even look older than they really are. The program takes that dub and puts it on any higher-quality source you have, making a remux, without re-encoding the video or the original audio. In other words, you don't lose any quality.

My reason for making this, besides wanting to help with media preservation, is my little brother. He has dyslexia, which makes it hard for him to follow subtitled films, so dubs are a priority.

To be honest: I (still) don't know how to code. I did the programming with help from Claude (an AI). But yes, I developed everything with a lot of attention and care, because I wanted to make something really good.

You can find it on GitHub: Moguel0818/EternalDub

Features:
- Automatically syncs dubs with the film's audio.
- Fixes sources with cuts or desync, section by section.
- Shows the waveforms so you can check and manually adjust the selected dub.
- Doesn't re-encode the video or the original audio when saving.
- Builds the final MKV already organized (dub, original audio, subtitles), according to the user's preference.
- And more.

I've "remuxed" three films with it so far. For example, I managed to put the Brazilian dub of "Mad Monster Party" (1967) on a foreign BD remux, and it lined up perfectly with the high-quality video.

I believe this can help a lot of people who preserve media. I say that because I'm one of them. It's free and open source. Anyone who wants to test it, give feedback or report bugs, I'd be really grateful!
Preserving history to make new ones,

Miguel
