Just an update to say I’ve picked up the Criterion disc of Taxi Driver with a view of sending it to someone for a bit perfect capture which I can then sync. There’s a few other titles I want to pick up over the next couple of months first through to save on postage costs.

Update - managed to pick up NTSC versions of Naked Gun & Trading Places cheap on eBay. Going to try and get Beverly Hills Cop 2 next month then that will be it for now.

Lucky I picked up the 4:3!
I wonder if it’s a similar situation to Jaws? Did something change in the US in the 90’s regarding music rights?

It's usually when the music rights expire or get renegotiated, either they can no longer get the rights or too much money is demanded so they just drop in another song instead.
Just so you know Alex your Trading Places LD is analogue audio only, that particular LD capture wouldn't be bit-perfect.

Once Upon A Time In America - would love to get a hold of the original mono and make a custom version of the UK cut (228/229 mins?)
Looking on LDDB - the US versions are cut, the UK PAL version obviously has speedup (but will be uncut) - does anyone know if the JPN NTSC disc is uncut? |
