The new Shout Factory release has the original stereo mix. From what I understand the mono mix has never been released, Warner had it remixed to stereo before release.

Are we sure it's not a downmix as Shout is notorious for doing that.

No, I haven't seen anyone analyze it yet. I still need to pick that up actually, thanks for reminding me Smile

I'd highly doubt that Shout! downmixed their 5.1 mix for the 2.0 stereo for the simple fact that the 5.1 is higher in pitch than the 2.0. On top of this, I don't think I've come across any accusations of downmixing on the Blu-Ray forums, and well, if those guys aren't ripping it to shreds then I suppose it's good lmao.

I'd also like to bring in this thread from the past: Creepshow DVD mono. On this thread, some people have brought up that some international releases of the movie include a mono track, so it is possible that the original pre-release mono mix got carried over waters. On top of this, I'd like to mention that the pre-release mono mix can be found in the workprint of the movie (albeit extremely noisy).

Apocalypse Now

Quote:My Blu Ray has an 2.0 DTS dolby surround track. It sound noticeably different from the 5.1 track.

Info from rut*
DTS 2.0, 48 kHz, 768 kbps, 16-bit | English | (2001 Redux version)
DTS 2.0, 48 kHz, 768 kbps, 16-bit | English | (1979 original version)

But I think we will get full bitrate original mix in 4K BD.

I wonder what type of audio the leaked DCP has. It's a 5.1 track, but it's the normal theatrical cut of 2h 27m. Redux had a Dolby Digital track, but the old one only had a 70mm 6-track and Dolby Stereo. Though of course Dolby Stereo is created from 4 original tracks, so maybe those were used? Curious.
