Hope I'm wrong but I'm expecting some teal!
avatar
Bout damn time!
avatar
avatar
Hopefully with a new, proper master
avatar
HO BOY! CAMERONMAS! And look, they put my picture on the box! https://thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-tw...11523-0659
avatar
You should write a guide Bibofett
avatar
well, how about that, I learned a secret trick/hack/loophole for HDR conversion.. DM if you'd like it Wink
avatar
@alleycat the pacing and scene order is the same as the D.C. from 2017
avatar
That's what I said to myself when T2 in 4K was announced. What a let down it was when I saw the movie on 4KBD
avatar
Never ever judge a video transfer by YouTube. They have some of the worst compression around. I thought it looked eerily similar to the HDTV version I saw on HBO some years ago.
avatar
That HDTV had wonderful grain on it so I'm not expecting the worse...yet
avatar
It's clearly the same transfer as the HDTV that has been floating around for years
avatar
LOL I was just coming here to post that Abyss trailer
avatar
But knowing Cameron's distaste for film grain, this and probably True Lies, will be another DRN mess
avatar
T2 in 4K is just garbage. I've low hopes we get a real proper release.
avatar
I remember people complaining about DNR on the titanic trailer on youtube then saying the DCP looked a lot better. I didn't get the chance to see it myself though
avatar
Is the footage in the trailer scrubbed like hell? DNR mess or just Youtube encoding?
avatar
The Abyss coming back to theaters >> Trailer >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cCVYAcIIAo
avatar
Is it significantly different? Do they still fix the order of events so the Chinese dialogue doesn't have to be dubbed?
avatar
I can confirm Mann's D.C. of BLACKHAT is still yet a 3rd revison cut, even slightly different than the D.C he showed in 2016 and then later aired in 2017 on FX/DirectTV/TNT.
avatar
https://github.com/Asd-g/avslibplacebo#tone-mapping this does a decent job when you are tonemapping using Avisynth frame server
avatar
@Falcon in the latest version of Avidemux, use the "HDR Tone mapping" function setting under the "Video" tab at top. You can also set it permanently under Preferences. : https://i.imgur.com/uAW1nw6.jpg
avatar
Are you just watching or meaning to color correct the results? I used FFMPEG, others use ripbot264
avatar
Handbrake automatically does this quite well. Premiere pro you have to adjust the calibration yourself. But if there are regulars who do it with better tools, I'm interested.
avatar
Hi everyone, what is currently the simplest and most effective way to convert HDR to SDR ?
avatar
Thanks
avatar
@PDB MPC-HC x64 that comes w/ K-Lite CP
avatar
@Bilbofett which version of MPC is that?
avatar
Great to see that Arrow is doing all the cuts of Conan and restoring the mono
avatar
sure y'all know this but the latest version of MPC in Win10 (and 11 no doubt) play Dolby Vision with ease, (I'm doing the Video Renderer, not MadVR) and no tone mapping hack thats really SD over HDR. I confirmed this because the thumbnail when I scroll is still that weird mostly shades of purple+green, but the actual playback itself looks great.
avatar
crom!

Conan The Barbarian + Destroyer coming from Arrow in 4K https://www.arrowvideo.com/conan-the-bar...76084.html
avatar
DCPs are a different aspect ratio to home formats, either 1.85, 2.39 or 1.9. The imager chip/panel is 1.9:1
avatar
Why not just scale directly to the DCP size?
avatar
No problem signing in for me
avatar
Myspleen suddenly saying my password is wrong? Anyone else having issues? Won't let me change either
avatar
ffmpeg can also to HDR to SDR tonemapping
avatar
3840x2160 > 1920x1080. Prob select "Square pixels". Leave FPS, colors, full/limited colorspace to same/default.
avatar
its a conversion
avatar
theres guides on videohelp, doom9, etc. But essentially you load in the source into a video editor like virtualdub, tmpgenc, handbreak, Ripbot, Premiere, Vegas, etc. and set the output to 1080p
avatar
Scratch that - I want to convert a UHD source to FHD - how do I do it?
avatar
How do I convert a video's colourspace when converting it from UHD to normal HD?
avatar
Super off topic but I managed to score "Daft Punk - Random Access Memories" 10-year anniversary ed., in Dolby Atmos. DM me if you'd like a copy
avatar
What a comeback!
avatar
Yojimbo work is top tier too Smile
avatar
Excellent news!

Happy to see Moshroom's work on Casablanca!
avatar
Glad to see Moshrom is back
avatar
Great news, really excellent website
avatar
Looks like Moshrom/Blah-ray is back in action after a long hiatus: https://blah-ray.blogspot.com
avatar
Same, also a big fan of Joel Kinnaman so fingers crossed.
avatar
Hoping for a return to form for John Woo: https://youtu.be/iCNsLqHr4d0?si=He8KlGPxkjE8F0ZH
avatar
Very cool projects going on here, glad to have been told about this forum
avatar
Ok, thanks stwd4nder2
avatar
^^this is the way. I believe Miami Vice and Battlestar Galactica are like that in 4:3
avatar
I think you'll have to encode black bars and make it 1920x1080
avatar
Just one question please, is it safe to do a BD compat encode in 1440x1080? It's a 4:3 anime
avatar
Ive not watched it in this form only both SAC series. I think there was another one that did the same.
avatar
GITS The Lauphing Man is just all the episodes from SAC involving that storyline edited together to make a feature.
avatar
Ah, it's a SAC movie in the GitS Universe.. The Design of the DVD release from UK just put me off, because it's not Designer as I would expect an anime dvd release would be Designed.
avatar
Does anyone know what a "The laughing man" dvd release for ghost in the shell: stand alone complex is about? Is it a special English dub?
avatar
hello
avatar
Hi everybody!
avatar
Blackhat delayed to 28th November
avatar
Glad to hear it Zoidberg
avatar
Arrow just confirmed their Blackhat release will include the Director's cut
avatar
Thanks WXM!
avatar
I suppose most will find out on their own, but OT.com is back up Smile
avatar
Might be useful for anyone who uses ffmpeg - https://ffmpeg.lav.io/
avatar
Hey WXM, thanks very much
avatar
This thread on reddit has been looking into OT.com. It seems the best post is by BlueSnaggleTooth359, in a mini conversation here https://www.reddit.com/r/fanedits/commen...t/jy6821r/
avatar
Sad thing is it's hard to get ahold of any staff these days
avatar
Hmm nothing on Twitter as far as I can see
avatar
I don’t have an account but they normally update via their x/Twitter account.
avatar
Anyone know what’s happening with OriginalTrilogy?
avatar
This can do SDR <-> HDR back/forward conversion, realtime preview, edit metadata, MaxCLL, MaxFALL, etc. Free trial w/ all features, limited to 1 minute export max, https://www.acrovid.com/neofootage_ai.htm
avatar
French connection Sad
avatar
RIP William Friedkin.
avatar
No
avatar
I know im new here but can i beg too?
avatar
Cool. Anyone who wants to hook me up send me PM. I can trade invites for other trackers. Thus concludes my e-begging thanks for reading
avatar
You can ask, I'm not going to ban someone for asking that but we don't do ptp invites here
avatar
Yes
avatar
speaking of ptp, will i get banned if i beg for an invite here?
avatar
Ah, thanks @Yarp!
avatar
avatar
Does anyone know any estimated time of when ptp (passthepopcorn) tracker, will be up again? It's such a great tracker! The best really in my opinion. I hope nothing serious happened and it closed down.
avatar
I appreciate what the Tekno3d is doing and wouldn't be against trying his program but those normal prices are a bit steep
avatar
Tekno3d's doing a 1-week rental of that SDR>HDR program, $40, if anyone wanted to take the plunge
avatar
blu-ray.com goes offline around 1-2am PST every night for maintenance, then comes back
avatar
I saw a mentioning of a scheduled maintenance thing yesterday in the form of a black banner, but I immediately purged it from my head regarding deets LOL
avatar
avatar
Last Down: 1 hour 25 mins ago
avatar
Ah, it was down earlier
avatar
Fine for me
avatar
looks to be
avatar
Are the blu-ray forums down?
avatar
@PDB nice!
