That's what I read someplace, once upon a time...

Anybody checked out the new Korean blu ray? It's supposed to be a proper HD transfer (of the "standard cut").

Really? Are there screenshots somewhere? I thought the recent batch of Korean Fortune Star releases just re-used the old upscaled transfers (except A Better Tomorrow).

I've been searching for information on the Korean BD since reading your post, and haven't found any confirmation, either way.

Regardless, this sounds like a wonderful project, IcePrick. Have only ever seen the standard cut, but have heard great things about the festival cut.

Fantastic that someone is working in this again. I've put off revisiting it for years since there are so many versions and edits and not a single good transfer as usual for a Woo classic.

All the stories I had heard seem to indicate the boardroom was first and the distributors wanted a bigger climax and so the car chase finale was created. While it has a nice and more epic ending quality the shorter scene fits far better with the overall tone and certainly is better thematically.

I've also heard the stories that essentially Woo went off and did this film and Hark did ABT 3. The fact that they both deal with similar elements and derive from a project of some sort instigated by the pair before they split would indicate that as being true. Oh crap ABT3 was really bad. I came to it after discovering 1 and 2 and being blown away...

I took a little break from my projects for a while, but I will be returning to this soon. It's pretty close to being finished.

It seems that I'm one of the few that prefers the car chase ending (although, both endings are very good). It's not only a spectacular piece of film making, but I also think it's a big part of the character arcs of the two characters.

I like both endings about the same but for different reasons. I'm fine with watching either.

Glad the project is still on. I need to watch Bullet again.

Did anybody verify if the Korean Blu is a HD scan?

It isn't, unfortunately. It's the old upscale, but it seems to have been cleaned up somewhat.
