[Released] Terminator 2 CDS mix

Great news, so that's a good indication that it should be the CDS mix in full DTS bitrate. I'd love to hear it.

I know that early European releases had the original mix. Was your french ultimate edition the equivalent to the USA ultimate edition with the 6.1 surround ex tracks? As for the stereo track AFAIK that was never remixed.

Yes, for the director's cut, except that the US Ultimate used seamless branching and that Studio Canal in France used 2 separate discs for each cut. We did not even have the extra-extended cut, only the 2 scenes hidden as an easter egg that required to type the Judgment Day date on a menu to access them, only seperately.

Might be some of the many Blu Rays has the original as lossless too?

I'm aware of at least 3 in English:
- the CDS mix.
- the Skynet edition. (with that in your face laser blast a T800 shoots at the audience that goes loud in the rear channels that I love.)
- the 2015 US edition that might be the same on the new remaster.

I know that the first Blu-ray edition we've had in France had seperate discs for the theatrical and extended cut (because of the lack of dubbing on the extended scenes), just like the Ultimate Edition DVD, but I don't have that Blu-ray edition. Maybe a French member here has it and is willing to ckeck? That would be great if it turns out to be the CDS mix in DTS HDMA.

Wasn't the French two Disc release also on HD-DVD? But IIRC the first French BD also was done by studio canal, and maybe they had the same track as on the German HD-DVD.
I have the 2 Disc french HD-DVD release.
I also have an old french DVD release (by columbia tristar), that seem to have the old mix on al three tracks, if I am not wrong.

You might be right. Maybe it was on HD DVD and not on Blu-ray... I've never had the Columbia one, but since it was the 1st one released in France, it certainly has it, but PAL sped-up. If it's on HD DVD or Blu-ray, then it would be at the proper framerate and probably lossless.

EDIT : just checked on Amazon.fr and the 2-disc set on Blu-ray exists or should I say has existed in France. So with a bit of luck, someone here might have it and could check the theatrical disc to make sure. It is announced as DTS HDMA 5.1.

If anyone wants to test/have a listen to the track from the new 3D Blu Ray, I can upload it.

OK, so now I've heard it. I listened to the percussions in the future war sequence, check! I listened to the music channel spacialization in the corridor scene, check! I listened to the chase scene music channel spacialization, also check! I'd say it's the same as the Dolby track identified as the CDS mix but in full DTS bitrate @  1.5 mbps. So, now an audio expert would be needed to sync it properly to the old master and the new one while at it. Any volunteer?

Cool.

There's a software called delaycut that can apparently cut DTS without reencoding. But the GUI looks painful.

For my method, I'd need the full DVD (untouched), but I'd probably be willing to have a go at syncing the DTS to the 2015 BD if I'm convinced that it's the best option.  If this track has PAL speed-up, is it going to be the preferred choice though? This thread did a good job of adding to my already-strong aversion against PAL audio sources.

It's supposed to be from a Japanese DVD, so I'd say NTSC, right? I don't have the DVD myself. I was just given the audio track. You'd need to ask MrBrown for the full thing.

Cool! Fantastic find!

What is the french 3.0 mix mentioned on that Blu-ray? A 2.1 mix?

Indeed it should be. Sorry: I thought you meant the Ultimate Edition DVD theatrical cut (French edition by Studio Canal) that you mentioned before. Smile
