Hi all,

So I've almost finished the blu ray of From Russia With Love. One of the audio tracks is a 44.1khz 24 bit 2.0 mono capture provided by TheAluminiumFalcon. My authoring program has been crashing while I'm compiling and after a bit of investigating I've figured out what is doing it, BDA specification does not support 44.1 khz - only 48, 96 and 192.

So the only way I can do this is convert it to 48 khz. It's not ideal but it's the only option that will allow me to put it on a disc. The question is how big of a sin am I committing by doing this? I don't know a great deal about audio sampling rates but one website I looked at said the difference was miniscule and humans cannot hear the difference?

Also what is the best method of converting? I've got audacity and sound forge or is there a better way?

This project has been nothing but problems so far and I thought I'd finally got to the end of it!

Thanks

I've recently converted several audio tracks from 44.1 to 48 using fre:ac. I'm a rank amateur, and would not claim to have golden ears, but the process is pretty simple and quick, and I've been very satisfied with the results.

Ok this project is now complete. Each movie is on it's own BD25 with menus that look and behave like the official Criterion discs, with pop up menus and resume function. The video for each is taken from the Blu Ray with the original MGM / United Artists opening logos restored and they use the original Criterion chapter marks.

Special thanks to FanFiltration for the original DVD project and The Aluminium Falcon for the LD audio.

Just to clarify this is a project that I have made for myself which I am choosing to share. If you don't like the project, if you think it should have been done differently then feel free to keep that to yourself and consider doing your own project.

Thank you Alleycat!

Did you doctor the color timing, or just left the colors as they are on the Blu-rays?

Hi Stamper,

No I've left the colour alone on these.

Thanks! The only one he changed the image for was Goldfinger. Turns out the Criterion LD of Goldfinger used an image from FRWL!
