With my very limited knowledge, I did some comparisons on Audacity and indeed the DTS 2.0 Mono seems to be very similar to the BD if not the same. On the other hand, The 7.1 information on Atmos track is very different from the DTS-HD MA 7.1 on the BD. I think the atmos may indeed be better balanced and more punchy on the LFE.

I'll be glad to hear more impressions from other members.

Just skimmed through parts of the UHD mono track and yeah like I figured its basically the same mono from the regular BD. Sound effects when they cut open the tiger shark are still out of sync, engine explosions still in the wrong pitch, Brody's scream is still low in the mix. One thing I did notice which I also talked about in my video is the mono on the regular BD has an odd drop in volume during one of the shots of the shark ripping up the cage. It's a little hard to tell for sure listening to it on the computer but this may be gone the mono on the UHD. Haven't gotten to hearing the surround track yet.

I can see why folk like the DVD mono but aye I'm firmly on the side of Team LaserDisc here. That wee missing "yeah" seems out of place but the big ol' comedy belch needs to be included imo, so LaserDisc it is.

That or the 2005 DVD mono. The latter has better quality IMO but lacks certain things the LD mix has. I also question how authentic the belch actually is. I have the MCA VHS from the 80s and a DVD rip of the old DiscoVision release and the belch is missing on those as well.

Yep.

Jaws definitely has one of the most complicated video histories in terms of audio. I have a few of the old MCA VHS releases. From what I can comment most of the releases prior to 1991 have the mono that sounds reminiscent of the 2005 DVD mono (no burb, Brody’s scream is low in the mix, engine explosion is correct, Brody’s “yeah” is present, etc) but has the replaced beach music although at least one copy I have, like the DiscoVision disc, has the correct music.

Now the 1991 VHS gets tricky. I have two copies of that edition but both differ in content. One recycles the same version as the previous MCA tapes with the replaced music while the other has both improved video and audio quality and the mono is basically the mid-90s LD mono but still with the replaced music.

I also have both the 1995 and 1997 Widescreen VHS releases and although the latter is THX certified both appear identical in video and audio quality (at least to my eyes and ears they do). The mono on both is equal to the LD.
