#1
Hi guys, I would like to ask you - what's the best way to split an m2ts file? Many thanks!

The very few times I needed to do that, I used TSmuxeR

Seems so... still, dunno how precise is the trim... just test and report here! Wink

My guess would be that it's no more or less imprecise than anything else that cuts video e.g. MKVToolNix: it'll presumably cut at keyframes, and match the audio as closely as possible to the locations of those. But I've only ever split video as MKV, not M2TS, so that's basically a semi-educated guess.

If you need to make an exact cut that isn't at a keyframe you can use VideoRedo - it's got a free trial. Not 100% if it can accept m2ts though so you might need to remux it to MKV first

Well, it does the job just fine for the regular m2ts - you gotta use the Cut function, where you can cut the piece of the file you want with precision to ms, which is quite enough for me. However, when it comes to cutting the part of the dual layer Dolby Vision m2ts file, Muxer messes up with the DV enhancement layer - the resulting file does trigger Dolby Vision on my TV, as it should, but it does not read it properly (there's a fluctuation of colors). So my verdict - you can cut m2ts files with tSmuxer just fine, but not the DV m2ts files! Big Grin

What's about HDR files?

Well, I split an m2ts file of Braveheart with the Dolby Vision enhancemnet layer in it, and everything is fine with the first half of the movie, but the second half has weird fluctuation in color.

Yep, I understood, but I am curious to know if with HDR10 is the same...
