I haven't checked it out myself, but there's a lot of reports on the BD forums about there being phasing issues with that track. I'm not sure if that's a mistake that can be make in the encoding process of if that's a sign it's a different mix than what's on the LDs.

I read the 2.0 on the 1st Ghostbusters DV edition is messed up. It's either echo-y or the center channel is bleeding left and right or in the surround channels or whatever. The PCM from LD was said to be better for that reason.

yes though I heard the stereo for Ghostbusters 1 on the UHD isn't dolby stereo encoded while the BD included in the set is. It's weird. Also yeah the Criterion LD has more high frequency detail

If it being sourced from 70mm sources is true then that might be why. Though personally listening to it's not much different from the low frequencies on the stereo. The LFE on the Ghostbusters 2 DVD 5.1 is fucking insane though, it was considerably louder than the UHD Backup track (I haven't checked the BD 5.1 but I doubt it could match)

I dunno, when I watched it last October, the LFE was overbearing to the point of being annoying. Not what I would expect from a 1984 film. The BD and UHD DTS-HD 5.1s don't have that issue. To my ears, the Criterion laserdisc 2.0 sounded best.

No idea about Ghostbusters II as I couldn't find any 70mm screening info for it but considering it was 1989 I doubt it had any blow up screenings.

As far as I know, part 2 never had a 70mm release. All 5.1 tracks are new mixes made for home video.

Next up, is to check if the surrounds on the 1999 DVD either are Dual Mono or Stereo just to double check and be sure.

Either way, the GBII '89 has not received a 70mm Blow-up.
I'll take their word for it :-)

You talking about the DTS-HD MA 5.1? It makes no sense. I'd think it'd be just the same 5.1 from the other BDs.

I mean the Dolby Digital 5.1 track that's built into the Atmos track that MakeMKV rips. I didn't check the DTS-HD MA track

Well, of course, most 5.1's inside Atmos tend to be downmixes of the Atmos..

some of them aren't, some studios like to hide original mixes in them sometimes
