Matrixed Stereo upmixing VST3 plugin
#1
Music
Hello Fanrestore,

I am releasing an open source VST3 plugin for decoding several flavours of Matrixed Stereo audio, it is based on the Foobar DSP Freesurround but with improvements, bass management was a big bottleneck in the original implementation in regards to latency so that was rewritten to make this plugin something you can use to decode your dolby surround, old school prologic and prologic II movies and games in real time.
It's still a work in progress but it should help people without avrs.

It was tested on the VST3 fork of Equalizer APO and Reaper.

A dedicated and more user friendly standalone version is in the works.

Again, the code is wide open and commented through hell and back so I urge you to bring your talents to it because the dream is to have a tool that everyone here can use in future preservation projects, think Fantasia 1940 Laserdisc mix but with discrete channels this time around Wink

Hope you enjoy it.

Bonjour.

This sounds great and in sync with some application based projects I'm working on Smile
Thanks for sharing and look forward to you future works.

Interesting. For films I think I'd rather pipe the Stereo into my AVR and let that handle the upmixing, but I'd be curious to see if this can be implemented into emulators for 5th gen consoles that can do real-time Dolby Surround. Dolphin and PCSX2 have options for this but they leave much to be desired.

Hey, I couldn't get this to work on Reaper. I tried rescanning it and it still won't pop up.

Strange, it works fine on my machine.
What's the issue, it doesn't load at all or is it more of a hang situation? Let me know.

For me it shows up in REAPER as "Plug-ins that failed to scan". Trying to build my own at the moment to see if that has anything to do with it. I'm on REAPER v7.78

I have a standalone version in the works that does it for every single thing coming out of your soundcard provided you have the Virtual Audio Cable program installed.
