Hi guys, bumping this one up. During my research, I noticed that the Japanese LDs of Piranha 2 are for some reason of different length that either the producers cut or the James Cameron US cut. It's listed at 91mn (instead of 94 or 84).
I did some foreign language research and found on a german board someone claiming the JP version is a hybrid of the JC cut and the international cut. The guy gave the exact LD running time with seconds, so I assume he owns a copy.
There's some confusion over this JP LD, because someone on imdb put info saying the JP is uncut in comparison to the US cut. So people @moviecensorship assume it's just the international cut (but they didn't check as they don't have a copy). There's two versions of the LD, and both are listed as 91mn, so either it's a Pal speeded up version of the film (which I doubt as the reissue is from the 90's where this stopped happening), or it is a unique cut (maybe it's JC cut with full added gore before the MPAA asked to cut stuff to get an R).
I'm currently trying to find someone who own a copy in our circles, but to no avail (people usually own the Embassy LD due to it's uniqueness). If anyone owns the disc, please contribute to this discussion to help solve the mystery !
